Flagstaff or Phoenix Airport to Sedona?
Flying out of LAX - my ultimate destination is Sedona and I know Flagstaff Pullam Airport is closer, but the plane that flies in there is a turboprop - 20 rows of seats. I have to take dramamine to fly on any plane, and I figure this one is going to bounce around going over the mountains. I guess Phoenix is the other option. Can you tell me how long it takes to drive to Sedona from each airport? I don't mind a longer drive time if it means not getting airsick!
TIA

We checked both airports, and the price of the Flagstaff flight landed us in Phoenix There is a free shuttle to the rental place, I think for all companies together, and it was easy to get our reserved van. We stopped for lunch on the way somewhere, and it was a nice ride for me.
Have you tried Bonine instead of Dramamine, makes you less sleepy.

I think it's less than 2 hours from Phoenix to Sedona. The drive is easy and pleasant (once you find your way to the correct freeway). To me, not worth the extra cost and stress to fly to Flagstaff. Your call.

I didn't realize it was cheaper to fly into Phoenix. Trouble is, we are renting a car and it's double to rent from Phoenix airport! Wow - I would have thought it would be cheaper at a smaller airport. For a week rental on a compact car, it's almost $400, even with a discount!!

It's about a 2 hour drive and no problem..just some traffic by the Metro and Anthem area.
I love the small jets and turbo prop Dash 80's too!
Did you try hotwire.com for car rentals?
It seems that car rentals all over the US are very high..
Stop and get a slice of pie at Rock Springs right off the freeway exit..yummy blueberry/blackberry crumb pie with some coffee.

Wildflower bread company does a nice job too!
Have you been in that cowboy bar at Rock Springs Cafe?
It is truly out of the wild west..maybe get a pie to go and have an omelette and a bloody mary!

Give yourself some time to get the car rental in Phoenix. You have to take a shuttle over to another building. We left everyone at the airport with the luggage and one person took the shuttle to get the car--saves you from having to take your luggage on the crowded shuttle van.

If you're planning on a car rental, reserve a car from Enterprise in Tempe. It's very close by and so much cheaper, even if you have to get a cab to the rental office. The taxes in Phoenix are what makes the car rental prices so over the top ...

The drive from Phoenix to Sedona is very scenic and enjoyable. I just did it and it took about 2.5 hours, give or take, and I was in no hurry.
Flagstaff is much closer to Sedona, and also a lovely, scenic drive.

JudyJay - is there a reason you use Phoenix instead of Flagstaff when you fly in there all the time? Seems a closer airport would be easier.

Is Rock Springs the name of the town or the pie shop? "Right off the freeway exit" -- where? Sounds delicious!
