Flagstaff hotel help
 

We are taking a trip out west and are looking for a hotel in Flagstaff, AZ. I read on another post that there is a problem with many hotels being very close the the railroad tracks with frequent trains and noise. Can anyone tell me which hotels are not near the tracks? It's hard to figure out from their web sites. Looking for something nice, but not superfancy - would like a pool, but don't need resort facilities. <BR><BR>Thanks in advance for your help.

We wound up staying at Residence Inn. I highly recommend it. It is all suites, has a pool and includes a breakfast buffet. (They said continental, but it was a full breakfast with eggs etc). Most importantly, it was far enough from the tracks to be quiet. It is not downtown, but I assume most people going to Arizona will be renting a car.

We were driving to the Grand Canyon when a blizzard, by our standards, hit. We grabbed the first hotel off of the first exit on west bound I 40, we had to cross the RR tracks to get into the parking lot. If you are coming from the east, pass thru Flagstaff to the western edge as east Flagstaff was where we found tracks, they did have an indoor heated pool, but no restuarants, or gas stations close by. We never saw the Grand Canyon, butr headed to Phoenix, it was a balmy 70 degrees. If you find yourself in Wilcox AZ, eat at the Desert Pose, very nice western elegant resaurant.

When you come in to Flagstaff there are several nice--upscale--hotels on the west side right off of I-17. The Fairfield Inn is there (I've stayed there, very nice) and I can't remember the other hotel names, but if you look at a Fairfield map it should show you the hotels in the area. This is very close to NAU and since Flagstaff is very small it's not hard to get to downtown from there. The railroad is HORRIBLY noisy and the trains run through several times an hour so you do NOT want to be near the tracks. Enjoy your trip...I was there two weeks ago and it was beautiful, mid-70's and a bit humid, but worth getting out of the Phoenix heat!
