Flagstaff - Grand Canyon?

Dear experts

Would it make sense to stay a week in Flagstaff mid March (have a free resort stay at Faifield Flagstaff) and drive to the Canyon one day and to Sedona another day?

We would fly to Phoenix with our two preteens!

I need to answer by tomorrow (Sat)......any tips are more than welcomed...there is very little on Flagstaff on this board!

THANKS

Alba

IS there any good book on this area?

You have to weigh the free room with the time spent traveling. But Flagstaff to the Grand Canyon is very feasible. I would get up early to make the most of it.

We flew into Flagstaff, drove to Sedona and then from there to the Grand Canyon. We stayed in both places two nights. Neither were bad drives. Like Michael said, it depends on what you want to do in the areas.

When you ask about a good book, I'm not sure what you are interested in. There have been quite a few discussions about the area (not necessarily Flagstaff)on this board. Are you interested in other day trips from Flagstaff, or activities in Flagstaff itself.

book: Arizona traveler's handbook by moon publications, all B&N have this series, also on amazon. gives all the little pieces of info. Flagstaff is a reasonable drive to sedona, jerome (very cute town- shops etc. how those houses are still standing is impressive - mountain side) sunset crater is nice too
