FL-West Coast beach town

Thinking about taking a late June business/vacation. Need to fly via Tampa or Sarasota. Any suggestions for a fun beach town to visit. Trip will be a tiny bit business and mostly pleasure. Family of 4, 2 teen boys (19, 16). DH and I like to lounge on the beach, read, walk, veg out from stressful jobs at home. Kids like a bit more activity-sports, shopping. We all like poking around interesting towns, ethnic areas, Everyone golfs. Any suggestions? We would prefer to rent a condo on the beach to a hotel. We also love a place where some of us can walk places if others have the rental car. Thanks for suggestions.

Anna Marie Island or Bradenton Beach 0 they are connected and run along the coast. If you do a look up on this forum for either you should get a lot of information!

There are lots of condos for rent on the west FL coast on www.vrbo.com.

There are not a lot of "ethnic areas" on the FL West Coast -- with the exception of Tampa. Tampa has large Italian, Cuban, Spanish, Puerto Rican, Asian, and African-American populations, and probably some that I've missed. Teens will prefer Tampa, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Sarasota. Perhaps a good compromise would be the Sheraton Sand Key. The teens can escape via the Beach Trolley to Clearwater while you enjoy beautiful Sand Key. Or you might check out the Don CeSar on St. Pete Beach. Another teen hangout. There is a beach trolley that runs from Clearwater to Pass-A-grille beach, $1.50 one way. Golf is anywhere and everywhere in Florida.

Be aware that any out strolling around activities in late June will most likely be in and out of air conditioning or you won't last long. It is very very hot and humid here at that time of year.
