FL State Road 60?

I will be traveling Florida State Road 60 from Vero Beach to Tampa. I'm a native Floridian but this will be my first trip on this route and I would like to see whatever sites there are. Besides Bok Tower and Spook Hill in Lake Wales, is there anything on or near this route that I shouldn't miss? Thanks in advance for any advice.

I've traveled this route a few times. It's boring in general; Lake Wales and Bartow are the only towns of any size along the way. Except for a few hills in the central part of the state, plus a number of lakes that you could stop and visit, there isn't much to see.

The Bok Tower gardens are stunning and you hear little about them. They are worth a detour for anyone interested. The Art Deco Bok Tower is a quite beautiful with its pink and blue stone that reflects irridescence. LMF

Now, Wayne, you're forgetting the thrill of going through Yeehaw Junction! :-)

Bok Tower is a do-not-miss in my opinion. Listening to the carillon surrounded by all that beauty.....wonderful.

If traveling on the weekend stop at Lake Kissimmee SP, they have a 1870's cracker cow camp you can visit. Its worth an hour or so of your time and a place to streach the legs. In Muberry there is the Phosphate Mine Museum. Don't forget the old bordello which is the Desert Inn at Yeehaw Junction. For the price of a beer (thats what we paid) they will take you upstairs and show you the rooms.
