FL Beach Resort with Kids Program - Please help

I need some help identifying a Beach resort in FL for an April trip.

Features I am looking for include
a) Kids Program
b) Beach-Pools
c) Warn enought too swim in Ocean (Altantic coast?)
d) Full service all inclusive feel (but it doesn't have to actually be all-inclusive)
e) Not too isolated

I can't spend more than $500/night.

I posted a similar question the other day and got some good feedback. But - the suggestions had some issues
a) Too expensive (Breakers, Ritz Key Lago)
b) Poorly reviewed (Boca Raton Resort)
c) No kids program (Lago Mar Fort Lauderdale)
So I am going back to the well with a refined request.

Thanks again fro any help.

How old are the kids ? Also, does it have to be Fla. ? April - well, you may still be rolling the dice on weather.

Try South Seas Resort

Have you looked into Miami Beach (like Bar Harbour, the Fontainbleu, Eden Roc)? The Diplomat in Hollywood? Marriott in Fort Lauderdale? The Gulf coast is nice, too.

I have looked some at club med sandpiper. It is on the upper edge of my price range. Can't get a feel for whether or not I woould like it. I would love to hear opinions on it.

The kids ate 7 and 5.

It doesn't have to be FL. I was just looking for something quick/easy/cheap (from Wash DC). We have considered Puerto Rico - but I know even less about the options down there. I definetly don't want to risk cold weather.

I will check those other suggestions.

Sorry - scatch my question.

Looks like Florida is off the table. The planned trip is in early April and I have just now realized (with some input from above) the Florida won't be reliably warm enough in early April.

Looks like I need tolearn aboout Puerto Rico.

Have you checked Disney's Vero Beach Resort? It's part of their Vacation Club but I believe it is available to regular paying customers.

I would imagine that it would be very uncharacteristic for it to not be warm in Florida in April, especially south florida. I would think it would be a fluke if you got bad weather in south florida in April.

If you are looking at Puerto Rico, sounds like the Wyndham Rio Mar might be the choice for you.

There is a Marriott on Marco Island that used to have most of what is on your list - it has been years since I have been there and it may not even exist for all I know.

rholt, the Florida Atlantic is definitely warm enough to swim in in April. The water temps will be around 80 degrees with daily air temps at least 85 degrees.

Heck, I swam in the Atlantic in Fort Lauderdale the end of January and normally I'm not in the water until it is at least 80 degrees.

I love the Westin Diplomat (not to be confused with the Diplomat Country Club), The St.Regis Fort Lauderdale, The Sonesta Beach Resort in Sunny Isles and Le Meridian in Sunny Isles.

I cannot believe the Boca Raton Resort got bad reviews! I've stayed there several times (one being about a month ago) and it was fabulous every time!

I agree that the silent majority stay silent and a lot of the reviews on Trip Advisor can be overlooked.

I agree that it is warm to swim in April especially if you are from up north. We were at the beach this weekend at my kids couldnt wait to get in the water (and we live here.) I am the one who needs the water to be warmer. Anyway someonw recomended the Fontainbleau and Eden Roc. Both are undergoing major rennovations. The Eden Roc is closed, but the Fontainbleau isnt. The amenities right now are very limited, but once it is all done it should be AMAZING!!!! The Westin Diplomat is nice - not sure abou the kids programs. Did you look at the Loews on South Beach? Also there is a Marriot on South Beach that is in SoFi (South a 5th) Its firther to walk to Lincoln Rd, but it is walking disntance to pelnty of restaurants and shops. I would cab it to Linclon Rd (less than 10 bucks) - or take the bus.

Oh one more thing - Bal Harbour - The Sheraton was knocked down recently to make way for a St. Regis - there really isnt another appropriate hotel for your needs.

Sincere thanks for all the feedback. But - I made the snap decision today to go for Puerto Rico. We are heading to the El Conquistador Resort.

wow. My fingers were poised to recommend El Conq. when I read your last post. We just came back from there.
