Five Days in New York
My husband and I intend to visit New York in late January 2003. We will be travelling there from Toronto where he will be on business. It is the first visit for us both and would love some advice from other travellers re affordable but good hotels, where to stay, good restaurants etc. Also should you have similar advice re Toronto. We reside in the UK.

Joanne, you'll find plenty of discussions about hotels and restaurants already on this board -- just do a search on the keyword New York.
|
If you are from Toronto, you might be hockey fans? I agree that NYC has been has and re-hashed on previous posts, but I would recommend catching a Ranger game as well. Good, old fashioned hockey, and a great setting (Madison Square Garden).....

I misread your post... you are from the UK. If you are not a hockey fan, read the other posts and you'll find a wealth of info.

cant go wrong with the belvedere hotel on 48th&8th. Great location (less than a few minutes walk to theatres/3 subway lines) good prices to go along with clean, decent hotel.

For more opinions on restaurants than you can imagine, try www.chowhound.com. There are people in New York who go out to eat every night in New York and then talk about it at this site.
