Fitzpatrick's Grand Central Hotel

Can anyone give me some feedback on the Fitzpatrick Grand Central Hotel?
Is location good / are rooms renovated and up to current styles?
It seems highly rated at tripadvisor. However, I notice the vast majority of ratings are from UK/Ireland (being an 'Irish' hotel).
Wondering what opinions US guests have.
Please let me know if you've stayed there recently and how you liked it. Thanks much.

If you like being near Grand Central terminal (I don't, I find the area too corporate and not much for decent restaurants) the location is fine. It's right near the Hyatt and certainly convenient for getting around.

In addition to written reviews, there are photos posted by travelers for almost every hotel on the review page.

Rooms look a bit dowdy but they've got flat screen tvs.

I haven't stayed there recently, but we put our wedding guests there (and we stayed there) in 2000. I thought the rooms were lovely. We also really like the Wheeltapper pub. Service was very good, too. Location is convenient and the side street it is on is fine, but the area isn't exactly beautiful or "hopping" at night.

Fine area to stay! Great transportation options close by, so it really doesn't matter that it's quiet at night, you can easily grab a cab or subway and be in the Village or other places in minutes. You can also walk to the theaters from here, we have done that while staying at the nearby Hyatt without a problem (unless it is storming and then it doesn't matter where you are staying, you won't be out walking in it!)

I have not stayed at the Fitzpatrick myself so the best I can offer are the Tripadvisor reviews you have already looked at. Personally though I think you would be fine.

It's an excellent location for a tourist (one of the best in town, in my opinion) and has a good recommendation, and if you got a good deal on the price, then I wouldn't really be that concerned with "up to date" room decor.
