Fishing Lodge advice needed!
I have always wanted to go to an Alaskan fishing lodge and decided 2008 would be the year. Anyone have advice/experience? Looking for input on location, time of year, and specific lodges.
Thanks! |
Freshwater (trout, salmon) or saltwater (halibut, bottom fish, salmon)? If freshwater, rainbow trout with some salmon, or mostly salmon? If salmon, kings (bigger) or silvers (great airborne fight but smaller than kings)?
I would either go in the fall to a lodge on the penninsula for big rainbows with the chance to fish beside brown bears, or to a place with a good silver salmon run, but different people get their kicks different ways. Bill |
I don't know about time of year and that kind of stuff, but I do know my husband went hunting with Northern Wilderness Adventures a few years ago and they also so fishing trips.
He just got a holiday newsletter from them and said that he would like to go fishing with them. Their website address is nwaoutfitters.com |
If you're into saltwater fishing and are willing to fly to Sitka, here's an outfit we chose for this August. Can't swear by them because this will be our first trip with them, but I did quite alot of research and these folks came out on top for the type of trip I was looking for.

There's a very wide variety of experiences, from river-based to saltwater.
Here's a good-looking saltwater place in the SE. http://www.covelodge.com/ Be very careful, there's a wide, wide range of quality. Do you homework. Look for something off the road system (not a given). Provide more info here and folks will be glad to help. |
