Fisherman Wharf hotel recommendation
Would love to know any recommendations for reasonably priced hotel in the Fisherman's Wharf area for $100 to $150?
Maybe what your experience has been at a hotel in that area, also. Thanks. We would stay for about 3 days then rent a car and drive to LA. Would love to stop along the way overnight. |
Try the Courtyard by Marriott.

Probably going to have trouble at that price depending on when you stay. The Holiday Inn is acceptable, but often more than your target price. I agree Courtyard is worth testing. The Marriott and Hyatt will both be much more. See if Best Western doesn't have a Fisherman's Wharf location.

Try the -
Wharf Inn 2601 Mason Street San Francisco, CA 94133 from this site http://www.hotelres.com/index.php |
Just wondering what you think of the Columbus Motor Inn and how far it would be to the Wharf area? The price is almost $100 less than say the BW Tuscan Inn. Would spending the extra be worth it to stay at that Inn?

We are from New Zealand and stayed at the Columbus Motor Inn for three nights in April 2007. We found it to be very comfortable not luxury by any means, but not budget either. It was about 7 minutes walk from Fisherman's Wharf and there is a bus stop right outside which gets you to most places in SF. It gets good reviews on Trip Advisor. We were very happy to stay there and would stay there again.
We did the Muir Woods tour, and Alcatraz while we were there as well as the tour to the Golden Gate bridge. All started from Fisherman's Wharf and we walked there from the hotel each time. |
Hello,
Just interested in knowing which Tour company you decided on for Muir Woods and Golden Gate Bridge? We already reserved tickets for the 9:00 AM Alcatraz tour from their Official site. |
Another one who has stayed at Columbus Motor Inn and really liked it. You are away from the wharf area but can get to it quickly. You can also walk to North Beach (Little Italy) in a matter of a few minutes. I think I read on one of your other posts you have a little bit of a hard time getting around. The bus stops right in front of the Columbus Motor Inn (sorry don't remember the #) and right around the corner is a turnaround for the cable car.
I picked this hotel because I was traveling with family and wanted 2 bedrooms and also because I had a car and the parking was free. However, I liked it enough to recommend it anyone looking for reasonably priced lodging. |
We did the Golden Gate loop of the hop on hop off tour to see the Golden Gate bridge. We found this a very informative tour and we got some great shots of the bridge and the bay. The bus does not travel over the bridge but if you are going on a tour to Muir Woods as well you will go over the Golden Gate bridge anyway.
We did the Muir Woods, Sausalito tour the next day, and thoroughly enjoyed that also. We would have liked to stay a bit longer at Sausalito it reminded us of Nelson and we were only there for 30 minutes max. On reflection we should have taken the ferry back instead of the bus. We loved our stay in San Francisco. |
