LAKE TAHOE-HARVEY'S OR HARRAHS, DOES IT MAKE A DIFFERENCE?
From what I have read Harvey's and Harrahs are very simular properties owned by Harrahs. It looks like Harveys has better restaurants and Harrahs sometimes has big name entertainment. The rates for a room with a view are the same at both places, so is there any advantage to one over the other? With the two being connected, isn't one pretty accessible to the other?

I can't speak towards the restaurants in general, but I have been to the buffets at both and there is a HUGE difference. The buffet at Harrah's is by far the best in Tahoe in my opinion -- a huge variety of fresh, skillfully-prepared, high quality food. It's the only one in Tahoe I've found that compares to the best Vegas buffets. Also, the view is extraordinary -- it's on the top floor of the hotel with windows all around, and you get some fabulous views of the town, the mountains, and the lake. Not to be missed.
We at at the Harvey's buffet once and it was absolutely dreadful. Very possibly the worst buffet I've ever been to anywhere. Not much variety, poor quality food, and everything was either bland or actively bad. (No view of anything, either -- I think I remember that the buffet there is actually in the basement).
I know a lot of people hate buffets on principle, but the food I've had at Harrah's has been good enough that I would have been really pleased to get it at a restaurant where you order off a menu.
I like the casino at Harrah's a lot better too. I've never stayed at either so I can't help you with that -- we always stay at Caesar's.
Anyway, the two are directly across the street from each other, and all the main casinos in Tahoe are right there together anyway, so I wouldn't take location into the equation. Harvey's is on the side of the street with the lake and Harrah's is across the street, but I'm not sure how close Harvey's actually is to the water. The biggest thing that surprised me the first time I went to Tahoe is that the hotels aren't directly on the shore of the lake. Not a big deal, just not what I was expecting.

I've stayed at both properies several times. Harrah's is excellent, and
Harvey's is nice too! I really enjoy
both properties equally.
If you stay at Harvey's get the rooms with the larger bathrooms. It's not the Mountain tower rooms, but the other one.
Llewellen's at the top of Harvey's is very good, but so are the restaurants at Harrah's. Harrah's rooms have two bathrooms in each room

This same question was posted last week so you can serach for it.
But - There is not much difference. Harvey's view rooms have a better view since it is on the lake side of the highway. All of the Harrah's rooms will have Harveys sitting there in the middle of the view.
The rooms at Harrahs are nice. but all of the rooms at Harveys were updated more recently and are better.
the food is a little better at Harrahs - but there are now a couple of good restaurants in Harveys too. But apart from the view from the top floor at Harrahs there is really no reason to eat all your meals in either hotel. There are MANY better places to eat in the Tahoe basin.
