First Trip to Austin, TX - Is March a good time?

I've wanted to take a trip to Austin, Texas for a while. I'm planning on March 2003. My interests would be checking out some music in the blues clubs, eating some good Mexican or Tex-Mex meals, and some driving in the environs.
How is March weatherwise? I'm not much of a hot-weather person, so early spring is a good time for me to travel. Is the countryside pretty to drive through this time of year?
I welcome your suggestions! Thank you.

March is generally a nice month for driving through the Texas Hill Country and Gulf Coast. The weather is usually mild, everything is green, and bluebonnets are starting to bloom. March and November are the only months I really like there.

If you want a side trip and to see some country, you might go to Fredricksburg. It may be 80 miles, more or less, from Austin. Cute shopping, country drive.

In march everything revolves around http://www.sxsw.com/ and another festival or two that paralyzes tourism infrastructure. Can be fun or a nightmare depending on your goals. Weather will tend to be good but can turn bad. Look up wildflower center web site for local blooming times.
