First Timers.......Help!
 

Hi, I am planning a 2 week Sept trip to Oregon. I have some planning questions and more specific questions after reading the Oregon threads. So far I have 3 days in Portland, 1 in Bend , 1 at Crater Lake Lodge (the only one booked so far), 1 in Roseburg ,3 in a southern coastal location and 3 in a central/northern coastal town. (For the Coastal areas I am looking at Bandon and Newport) and then returning to Portland. The only location I can't change is Crater Lake. Any other changes , or ideas from you would be appreciated. Thanks!

I have been reading about Hotel Oregon. How far is that from the downtown Portland area?

How is the Roseburg area for wineries? Any recommendations?

You itinerary makes sense. Bandon and Newport are both great locations. Since you have six nights, you might enjoy more Bandon (2), Newport (2), and Cannon Beach (2).

Funky Hotel Oregon is in McMinnville, about 40 miles from downtown Portland. The day we drove between the two places traffic was hectic and it took about 1 1/2 hours.

rpowell, you might want to re-post with a heading something like, "Oregon First timers need help" or "Oregon itinerary questions."

There are a number of very knowledgeable Oregon posters; if they see Oregon in the heading, they'll respond.

I would definitley try to stay in Cannon Beach or Seaside, you could do some great exploring from both of these areas. Oswald West State Park, Gearhart, Fort Stevens State Park and Astoria are all just minutes away. Let me know if you would like more info on the northern coast! ***kim*** ((#))

We have enjoyed several nice stays at the Riverplace Hotel down by the waterfront in Portland, you can walk to Lucier if you want a fantastic meal in Portland. We dined there last month, it's amazing! :)

In downtown Portland, the Heathman Hotel is a nice historic hotel with a great restaurant where we enjoyed dinner and brunch. Very pretty lobby here, spacious rooms and French Press coffemakers in the rooms. ***kim*** ((f))
