First timer to New York - need some good advice
 

HI - I will be in New York the end of Feb. looking into the RED WHITE AND BLUE SPECIALS that are being offered has anyone else tried it? Thinking of going with the White section but not sure what hotels are the best - two that have possibilties are the Sheraton or the Hilton convention center anyone been to either one or have a better sugestion? What about Broadway tickets - so many prices for the same shows - is there a place for discount tickets? Does anyone know how long of a boat ride it is to the Statue of Liberty - I get sea sick so this is a concern.

You can get discount tickets at this place called TKTS located on 42nd ST 7th Ave/Bwy. You have to see the show the same day though. Some stores in the past had them on the counter but I have not seen them in a while. In the summer there normally is a long wait. I am not sure if they have the ferry operating yet due to WTC.

The different prices for Broadway shows are according to where you sit.<BR><BR>The TKTS ticket booth is a discounted booth that sells tickets the day of the performance (cash or traveler check only). These tickets are for the less popular shows and the seats may or may not be good. You have to take what you can get. There are two locations 47th Street & Broadway and 1 Bowling Green. Is it your intention to climb the Statue (the only view you get is downtown Brooklyn) or see it up close? Also you can see the immigrant museum at Ellis Island. The sailing time for each leg of the trip is 15 minutes. Going to the statue would be 15 minutes, returning from the Statue would be 30 (the Statue to Ellis Island to Manhattan) More info at http://www.statueoflibertyferry.com/<BR><BR>If you want to see a good view of the Statue but don't want to pay the price, try the Staten Island Ferry which is free. PS: Currently I believe the Statue is closed, so you can't climb it. Check the website I gave above before you come to see if it has reopened.

I just want to see the statue up close -it wouldnt be right to come all the way to New York and not see it! Thanks for your input.<BR>
