First timer in OBX

Just starting to do some research for a possible summer vaca on the Outer Banks, but am confused about all of the different neighborhoods...

We'll be 3 or 4 people (30-somethings), with no kids, looking to rent a house for a relaxing week in a place where we can walk to the beach & also have a choice of restaurants or nightlife options nearby. We would prefer an area that's not "too" family-ish, but also not looking for a teeny-bop party town, either.

Any suggestions on where I should start my search?

I think you should probably be looking at Kill Devil Hills or Nagshead.

We always like Duck, but there is definitely no nightlife to speak of, and it is really quite family oriented.

See if you can snag a beach front house. It's the best.

Some rental agencies are a little fussy about renting to unrelated adults, so just be forewarned on that one. Read the fine print and make sure you are up front because they can and will kick you out. (I wouldn't think that 30-something would be an issue though!!!)

Thanks for the advice - I'm planning my visit with my sister & brother-in-law, so we should be OK, even with the fussier rental agencies.

If you want to be close to restaurants and nightlife avoid Corolla. Duck has more restaurants, though "nightlife" (except for fishing from a pier) is not in great supply in the OBX. Still its a great place to visit and have a relaxing vacation with family or friends.

Definitely stay in Kill Devil Hills or Nags Head but Kitty Hawk is not a bad choice either.

Couple restaurants you may want to check out Outer Banks Brewing Station, Tortuga's Lie, Mama Kwan's.

With 3 or 4 people depending on your preference a condo is sometimes a great choice. You usually end up with a pool.

Good luck in your home search. I you like here is a link to a local home search: http://therealouterbanks.com/index.p...&Itemid=87
