Our problem is solved. We are seeing Westside Story for full price and we didn't have the choice of very good seats

I read on another post something about getting tickets for Top of the Rock in advance. Is this necessary for about 5pm on May 6?

Oh, I'm so disgusted right now.

Corli, how is your post in any way helpful to the OP? Do you really think anyone here cares about whether or not you enjoy the Bronx and Queens?

Hopefully the moderators will step in.

It doesn't matter to me if anyone "cares." They asked for an opinion of New York City and I gave it. Folks can take it or leave it.

"Hopefully the moderators will step in."

Step in for what???? Because I thought Queens and the Bronx are dumps, they are in a lot of parts. It's not like I used obscene language or racial slurs or something. Give me a break.

what's this stuff doing on my thread? Start another one, please.

If we have to have a timed entrance to the Top of the Rock, I am beginning to see that we may have to forget Carnegie Deli. Is there anywhere interesting to eat near the Top of the Rock?

oops, pardon my ignorance. I just looked at a partial list of restaurants at Rockefeller Centre and realize that my question was dumb. I would still like recommendations for a fun, different place.

You could wait until you visit to buy ticket for Top of the Rock. There are rarely lines of any size, so if you just walk up they'll give you the next time.

Personally I think you should skip Carnegie Deli because it isn't really that great--giant piles of meat on a sandwich--tasty meat, yes, but I wouldn't build your very tight day around going there. It's just not worth it.

I just got another idea form "100 free things to do in New York"-Zabar's-walk there after tour of Central Park 11am-12or 12.30)-try all the samples. Then could we still get to Palace Theatre for 2pm. or is it pushing it?

we haven't gone on our trip yet, but I have learned something that I would like to share. At this point I am getting all kinds of offers of discounted Broadway tickets. I could have gotten "9-5" for $65 each(maybe it got bad reviews). I am not sorry that we are going to see "West Side Story", but it is costing me #332CDN for 2 seats in a back row. Next time I will wait for the discount offers

ita, I think you miss your own point though. You would still be waiting for West Side Story tickets at discount, so waiting wouldn't have gotten you in there. Or are you saying you've now gotten offers of discounts for West Side Story? I think the discussion here about discounted tickets before you bought yours was pretty accurate. If the price is more important than the show, then by all means wait. But if you specifically want to see a specific show -- don't wait for discounts because it may never happen.

And aren't those $65 tickets in US dollars -- two equals $156 Candadian plus fees -- maybe $175 CAN or more total for two. I'm guessing you already added in the fees to the price you quoted for the West Side Story tickets and already converted them to Canadian.

you missed my point. I am happy to be going to see West Side Story, but there are many other plays that I am now receiving discounted price offers for, from the discount ticket websites I joined. We haven't seen any of these plays We would have been happy to see these plays at $65U.S. I did not realize that I would get these offers, so when confronted with full price tickets chose West Side Story.

No, the full price tickets for West Side Story were $124 + fees and when converted to Canadian funds amounted to $332, as indicated by my credit card bill which arrived this week. The Canadian dollar at this point is roughly 80 cents U.S.

our day in New York is finally approaching. It appears that it will be the only day this week that it is not pouring in the city. I hops the weather report is corect. My daughter-in-law would like to go to Mme. Tassauds. Where can we fit it into our day:
11am-walking tour of Central Park-finishes 12 or 12:30
2 pm Palace Theatre
after theatre Top of the Rock
8pm-Penn Station-to depart

I was hoping to walk between sites (unless we are tired) so as get some ambiance-pass the new concert hall at Lincoln Centre, walk on 5th ave. and also 47th St. Can we accomplish all this. How long would Mme. Tassaud's take?

You may be biting off more than you can chew- or at least than I could chew.

However, you could walk past the Diamoond District going from the theater to Top of the Rock. You'll certainly be close to Fifth Avenue. It would seem to me that Lincon Center would be out of your way and the wax museum isn't really a New York sight that can't be missed.

Ate at Carnegie Deli once and the waiter was fired in the middle of our meal for no apparent reason. Now we thought that was a unique New York moment!
