First Time Visit to Colorado

Looking to plan a 3/4 day visit to Colorado in May/ June. I'd love to stay in a lodge that isn't extremely expensive and also looking to do some white water rafting, ziplining, and horseback riding. Was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction on where to stay or what region to look at? All help is greatly appreciated!

The time might be about right for rafting because of the melt off and it will be a budget season, probably, in May. I'll let folks that know those activities answer.

It's a big state, do you have any idea where you want to go? Southwestern part of state, Denver Area???

Durango area is nice, has all you want and you can fly into Albuquerque and drive up, about 3.5 hours. Check out Southwest for flights. Too soon now, but sign up for their DING! program to find unadvertised special fares and also their emails.

Also, you need to be specific on how much per night you want to spend and if that amount includes taxes etc.

Durango at that time of year is a bit less expensive than some of the other big name areas.

Also, do you want to stay in a small rental lodge or more of a hotel like lodge?

Thanks for the feedback. To be honest I'm not sure which area, I was hoping someone could give some advice on what I should experience my first trip. I'm looking to stay in a hotel type lodge but wouldn't mind the other one either. I'm looking to spend less than $250 a night.

The activities you are looking for can be found in many areas of Colorado.

I am most familiar with Grand County, and can recommend these:
Devil's Thumb Ranch (pricey, but worth every penny)
C Lazy U Ranch (family-oriented)
Snow Mountain Ranch (YMCA of the Rockies)
Grand Lake Lodge (historic log lodge overlooking Grand Lake; wonderful restaurant)

There are a gazillion more of them!

Thank you everyone for the responses. I will definitely look into the suggestions you've given me. I was most concerned with which region of Colorado I should visit. Grand County looks beautiful.

All of Colorado is beautiful! An abundance of choices awaits you. You've got plenty of time to investigate what you want.

You might start with airfares and car rentals, to see if it matters much if you fly into Denver or not.
