first time to Vail
Does anyone have any suggestions on hotels in Vail, CO. Any other advise on food, activities, etc. would be appreciated.

We JUST stayed at Vail Cascade-it was wonderful. It is just outside of Vail Village, but has a shuttle that runs there and to Lionshead every 20 minutes or so. We had dinner at The Ore House in Vail Village-had the chateaubriand. AWESOME!

Le Tivoli is a great friendly hotel, right in the town so you can walk everywhere.
|
The Antlers is very nice, and about a two minute walk to the gondola in Lionshead.

Stayed at The Lodge at Vail a couple of years ago ... closest slopeside accomodations you can get in the main village. Pricey, but worth it. We really liked staying in the main village where we could just walk to everything; apre ski, restaurants, shops. Fantastic breakfast buffet ... one of the best I've every had. The Lodge has their own ski lockers and attendant right when you get off the main lift (literally a few feet away). You can leave you skiis there and pick up the next day as you're getting on the lift; they'll even have them waxed up for you! It was great just walking out of our room and over to the lift. There's also a nice outdoor heated pool and 4 outdoor hottubs in a nice setting. The atmosphere inside is nice -- There's a lounge and2 restaurants with great food.
We got a good deal through American Airlines Vacations. Even if you're not flying with American, you can still get just a hotel package. Another nice place to stay is Sonnelap. |
We stayed at the Sonnanalp this past December. It was fantastic, from the rooms to the staff. I highly recommend it.

Sweet Basil is a great restaurant. So is The Wildflower.
