First time to the US - Help

My husband and I will be visiting the US (East Coast) for a long weekend in February (hubby's 30th).

Any suggestions of where to go and what to see? Will be following this trip up with another longer trip at a later stage

lisa Jan 15th, 2003 05:12 AM
What city are you flying to?

Jen Jan 15th, 2003 05:15 AM

Hmmm, the East Coast, let's see . . . Portland, Maine, and Miami, Florida are both interesting cities on the East Coast, as are New York and Washington D.C.

Sam Jan 15th, 2003 05:16 AM

Lulu, the US East Coast is thousands of miles long!

And what are your interests, Lulu?
Do you enjoy museums, art galleries, funky boutiques? Looking for a special place to have a memorable dinner for two?

anon Jan 15th, 2003 05:39 AM

Lacking any more detail, New York's a hell of a town.

What made you decide to come to the East Coast? If you can answer that then you will know where you want to go and what you want to do. If you can't answer that, then why are you coming?

Lulu are you Lulu?? You need to provide more detail. Lets see you can begin in Florida, spend one night, then hightail it up to D.C. see all the sights, then go to New York spend a night there. Most of your time will be traveling by plane or rental car. You have just covered the East Coast.

OK, let's try to help Lulu sort this out. She obviously didn't realize " East Coast" covered so much territory.
So Lulu, post a few more details and we will be happy to make some positive suggestions.
First of all, where will you be arriving from? Are you interested in staying in a luxury hotel in a big US city?
Do quaint B&B's or country inns suit you better than large hotels?

Robert Jan 15th, 2003 06:38 AM

Lulu-

Try to get a Visit USA pass from a domestic US airline. That will allow you to fly between multiple cities one-way and the ticket price will be reasonable.

Here is my suggestion. Fly into Boston and spend at least 2 nights there. Then go to NYC for at least 3 nights. DC can be done in about 2 nights. From there, I'd fly to Charleston SC and spend 2-3 nights.... there is a lot to see in this area and the beaches are nice. From there, definitely make it to Miami/Key West for about 3 nights as well. You can fly from Miami back to your hometown.

If you want more details, let me know. This intinerary gives you a feel for the Northeast corridor, the Southeast, and tropical Florida... pretty much a nutshell of the East Coast.

Have fun!

Lulu, pick one town (Boston, New York, DC, Charleston, Miami) and spend your time there. Each of those cities is a destination that you could easily spend a couple of weeks in.

I don't think some of you read her post or understand the question. She is looking for a long weekend.

anon Jan 15th, 2003 09:00 AM

Lacking any more detail, New York's a hell of a town.

helloooo people!

Lulu is only going for a long weekend!

Read the post!

Can't do the Eastern Seaboard in a weekend!

xxx Jan 15th, 2003 09:44 AM

That is what I am saying!! Robert is confused. He didn't read the post. So where in the heck is Lulu??

troll Jan 15th, 2003 09:54 AM

Lulu is a troll.

xxx Jan 15th, 2003 10:29 AM

I think you are correct. LuLu has either gone loo-loo or she is a troll.

This country is very vast. There are a lot of places on the East coast. A vacation to suit anyone's taste. However, I would say New York City is a must see.

Lulu, we would be happy to answer your questions , just give a few more details.
