first time to NYC, how tos?

Want to visit NYC (summer)with two boys, 16 & 14, and one husband! Not thrilled (dh says no way)about driving to the City so need advice on how to see NYC without driving to it. Should we see a travel agent and book everthing or drive to NJ and book from there? NO CLUE, HELP!

Where are you coming from? What things are you looking to "book" in advance that you want to use either a travel agent or go to NJ to book?

There are many ways to get to NYC, depending on where you're coming from, without a car. If you can get here without a car, it's often preferable since you will NOT want a car in the city.

you don't need to drive and you don't need a travel agent. you can get here by plane, bus or train depending on where you're coming from. Or you can drive to somewhere outside the city near transport. You do not need a car while in the city. Mass transit is cheap and easy.

For hotels, you can research here. Provide a price range, and people will make suggestions. For 4 of you, you may want to consider bidding for 2 rooms on priceline.

OK, I drove a school bus in NYC in the mid 60's - during the subway strike and the power outage in Nov. '65.
Just went back again 25 -30 Apr.
I would walk, take the subway or taxis.

First - where are you coming from? A car in the city is worth than useless - but don;t know what to advise without info from you.

Second, you have no need of a travel agent - anyone can dealk with getting to and zround themselves - but you do need to give us info.

What is your hotel budget - and will you try to all stuff into one roome (difficult in NYC) or two rooms - or suite hotels?

Also - when are you coming - if it's early summer you need to get moving ASAP.

And what is the focus of the trip/your interests?
