First time to Maui
 

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the weather is like on Maui in November? We're planning our first trip to Hawaii for November 16-22. Is this a good time weatherwise or is that when the rains hit? We're staying at the Maui Marriott, does anyone have any comments (good or bad) about the resort? We'll have a car, so any good restaurant recommendations would be a big help too. How are the restaurants right in the Marriott? Any interesting day trip suggestions would be greatly appreciated too, as well as good shops to go to and which ones to miss. Please email me at [email protected] with any comments. Weather is a crap shoot. I'm in Maui now and you can't predict weather for the next hour. Two weeks ago it rained for two weeks straight and now it's beautiful with occasional showers. Good Luck!

I agree. Maui has a lot of rain the last month or two but was beautiful right before Xmas. We were there in November once for 10 days, and a huge storm came through but really only affected us for a day or two. I believe November is the rainiest month, but you could get lucky, too!

Rain in a tropical climate is not always a bad thing either, because it is generally not cold when it rains.

I don't think it will make much difference, except the waves are likely to be bigger in the winter.

Hey Wendy-we stayed at the Marriott in Kaanapali Maui at christmas time a few years back, they had just opened up the new pool. It is great, but deep!(I am a short 5'1)I wanted to mention Va Bene restaurant right in the hotel itself. It is one of our favorite as my husband's friend Roger was the Chef there for quite a while. It is a very nice, low key, al fresco type of place. The food is generally good, but we just love the location, being able to view the ocean and island of Lanai as we eat breakfast. Last March we enjoyed a pod of whales making enormous leaps as we ate, it was great! It is a very comfortable place and I reccomend it highly. Enjoy your time in Maui.

We were in Maui over this past Thanksgiving and it was quite windy and rained a few times too. The surf was high most of the week which curtailed some of our activities, but the TV news did say it hadn't been that bad in 5 years--lucky us. The Marriott was very busy and overrun with kids I thought, but the pools looked great. There is a good restaurant in Whaler's Village called Hula Grill just down the beach path from the Marriott. Have fun!!

We went in December 2000, didn't rain but we were staying in Kehei. As far as activities, your in paradise who cares. But you can take the drive to Hana and the Seven Pools(awesome)

We were in Maui in November 2002 and it didn't rain the whole time we were there. This also meant that the waterfalls weren't very "big" though. BUT this also meant that the hiking trails were dry and very manageable. We found that it was off-season so rates were lower at our hotel AND less people were there (nice privacy factor). Don't worry - you will still enjoy your trip no matter how the weather goes. ;)
