Keep in mind, usually this is a trip of a lifetime. See all you can while you can. I would suggest doing 4 islands in the 2 weeks. If Oahu is your choice, there is the Polynesian Cultural center, Pearl Harbor, surfing on the northern side of the island, and of course, shopping. Remember, Honolulu is a major city. If you have any other questions about anything involving travel, go to my web site www.albertraley.blogspot.com

If you're going to split islands, I would only do 2. While Honolulu is a big city, Oahu has so much going for it - and it is beautiful Previous posters have given you ideas - and I would also add Waimea Falls (I loved that place). I think a week is good for Oahu (but I could be happy there with 2.... ). Also, one of the times I was there, they were having the XBox Surfing Championship on the North Shore - which was SO COOL - all the international surfing champions.... Have an awesome trip!! Both Maui and the Big Island would take a good week to see all the cool stuff they have - and still give you time to relax...

I have to disagree with the advice to see four islands in two weeks. In the past three years I've spent a week on Oahu, a week on Kauai and 10 days on the Big Island. I barely made a dent on the things to do list for each island. I guess I'll be forced to return.
My husband and kids loved snorkeling on the North Shore of Oahu at Shark's Cove. Make sure you stop for shave ice in Hale'iwa after snorkeling.
I'm not sure what time of the year you are visiting, but our favorite beaches on Oahu were Kailua Beach and Waimea Bay.
Dusty is a great resource for things to do on Oahu.
Have a great trip!

I wouldn't go to Oahu and Maui, as both are the more 'resorty' islands. In two weeks, I'd go for 2 or 3 islands in this order: Oahu, Big Island, Kauai.
You could do split about 10-11 days between Oahu and Big Island, and remaining 3 on Kauai since it's less driving. If only the first two, I'd do half and half. On Big Island, I usually fly into Hilo, stay in Volcano, then drive north to Kona side, and stay there, and pay the $60 car fee to fly out of Kona and not have to return the car to Hilo.
Oahu and Waikiki in particular is bustling, I find Kona similar. I highly prefer Hilo over Kona, I'm usually bored with Kona after hitting City of Refuge for snorkeling, a boat trip, and Hapuna Beach for beaching. Hilo is great for drives, side of the road beautiful walks, Volcano, playing in Boiling Pots, and a beautiful Farmer's Market.
A great market near Waikiki is the one in the Kapiolani Community College parking lot (near entrance to Diamond Head) on Saturday mornings. Get breakfast and fresh flowers. You also have the standard flea market at the Aloha Stadium parking lot (not walking distance) most days. Sells basically the same thing as shops in Waikiki, but a little cheaper.
You can do more of your surfing on Oahu - check with side based on the time of year. I'd be pretty bored with Oahu after a week.
On Kauai in 3 days: snorkeling at Tunnels - the best I've ever done, amazing drop off. Hiking the first few miles of Kalalau Trail. Na Pali boat trip (helicoptors crash), sunset is my favorite - light pupus and drinks. And great beaches everywhere, as well as lunching and small shops in Hanalei. Kayaking there too and a visit to the Grand Canyon of the Pacific - Waimea Canyon. I like staying cheaply in the middle, at either ResortQuest or Best Western Hale in Koloa. Haven't found any reason yet to go to Poipu for more than half a day.
Hope this helps - I just moved back to the mainland and miss all of the above.

hello- The poster says they are spending 2 weeks on Oahu (which I think is a great idea myself), nothing about going to other islands.
There is surfing right at Waikiki. Also boogie boarding and paddle boats for rent. Snorkeling at Hanauma Bay nearby. There are sunset catamaran cruises.
Hike DiamondHead.
Go up to the North Shore for a day or two.
In Honolulu there is much to see including Chinatown, Bishop Museum, Iolani Palace, etc.
An excellent website recommended to me by a kind poster here is at www.gohawaii.com. You pick your island & enter your dates & check of specific interests, then it makes a calendar itinerary of special events, free music and dance, concerts, shows, etc. that will be going on during your stay.
