First solo trip
 

40 year old male planning a solo trip to Maui in October...have reservations at Maui Prince (I know it is off the beaten path, but I just want to relax on the beach and not deal with crowds!)...I travel a lot on business so I am fairly comfortable with hotel dining rooms on my own. <BR><BR>Any suggestions for a nice spa for a massage? How about a great beach for people watching? Any activities for solo travelers (I'm not looking to pick up or be picked up!)

Daniel, the beach right in front of Maui Prince is nice. There's an earth "berm" a few feet high in back of the beach(makes hotel hard to see I guess) so get a room above ground level for a sea view if that's what you want. Makena close by too. You could take van trip to Hana if you didn't want to drive (we went with Ekahi Tours) .. helicopter ride etc<BR>You'll have a great time.

Daniel, the Maui Prince is a GREAT location with a wonderful beach! As a matter of fact, I like that beach better than the one in front of the Four Seasons! As for your spa question, just head on down a few miles to the Grand Wailea Resort for the most incredible spa/resort you'll find! As for people watching, again, that entire stretch from the Kea Lani all the way down to the Renaissance is perfect (the walking path), and when you so desire, just plop yourself down on any stretch of sand when you want to do your "people watching." Again, I think in front of the Grand Wailea, Four Seasons and Renaissance would be your best bets! Kindly post a trip report upon your return!

Massage at Grand Wailea is the best. The beach in front of Grand Wailea is also my favorite beach of all. Water is warm and calm. The trade wind does pick up in the afternoon though.<BR><BR>For people watching I will definitely point you to the Front Street of Laihana - tourists, locals, and animals, too. You get pretty many restaurants to choose from too. <BR>

Thanks for the encouraging replies! Any other suggestions? The spa at GW looks amazing...that whole waters thing looks very relaxing too!
