Fireworks show July 4th?

We're planning a rather impromptu visit to Yellowstone around July 4th (a sidetrack on our way from NY to AZ). Are there any fireworks shows in the area worth seeing?

I haven't been - but have friends in the area and I know they do fireworks on July 4 in West Yellowstone. Maybe someone else can give you more info.

Maybe re-posting w/ Yellowstone in your title will help -- something like "July 4 fireworks near YNP?"

we just took a trip to yellowstone this past july. we arrived in the park on july 4th in the early evening. july 3rd we stayed overnite in cody, wy and had a great time. we saw the cody rodeo the nite of the 3rd and then on the 4th got up, saw the parade and bummed around town for a bit. we were too nervous to stay out for the 4th of july fireworks as we didn't want to drive into the park in the dark. we were SO glad we drove into the park earlier. it is a good hour drive from the entrance of the park to the accommodations if you are coming from cody. also, it is fairly dark and lots of wildlife. i'm not sure what to expect if you come into the park from the other entrances.

There are not any fireworks in the park for the 4th. There are small parades at the Old Faithful Inn and the Lake Hotel. However, last summer we did see workers setting up fireworks on the presidents' heads at Mount Rushmore. Bet that would be neat to see!
