Fingerlakes weekend stay for young couples
Two couples in their early 30's looking for recommendations for a place to stay, wineries to visit, great restaurants, and a nearby golf course. Planning to stay a weekend in early June
|
Try fingerlakes.org You may want to stay in Seneca Falls. Pretty quaint little town. The Fingerlakes area is so very pretty. I'd never done a wine tour, but we've taken our Harley all around the Finger Lakes area.

Have a look at www.belhurstcastle.com. We have stayed there twice in the actual castle. Now they have a winery on site and a new in attached next door. It is in Geneva New York. For golfing you may want to check out Bristol Harbor. It may be a bit of a drive but the back nine is worth it.
PS. In the castle on the second floor there is a spiget with free flowing wine for guests. Look it up. |
Sorry on the last post. Meant to type "inn attached next door"

I don't know anything about golf-because my time in the Finger Lakes involves water activity mostly but...
Hammondsport and Ithaca both are nice places to stay. I also like Corning for the museum and gift shop. Also a nice place to stay or eat is Taughannock Farms Inn outside Ithaca. From there you can go to the gorge and visit the fantastic waterfall in the park. |
Skaneateles is great. Stay at the Sherwood Inn, or Mirbeau Inn/Spa, and go to Rosalie's Cucina for dinner. Quaint village, beautiful lake. If you head towards Syracuse, there's a bunch of golf courses to choose from.

All great advice so far! Skaneateles is a far way from wineries -- you will want to stay on Seneca or Cayuga so you're not driving really far after wine tasting.
For early 30's, I would look at Ithaca, however can't give advice on golfing...anywhere! |
This months issue of "Wine Spectator" has a comprehensive article on visiting the Finger Lakes, I would definitely buy it if I were you, it has great information.
