Finger Lakes-winery weekend
 

we are looking for a budget motel/b and b for a couple of nights stay en route to Canada from a vacation in Cape Cod. We will be arriving the Friday of Labour Day weekend and I fear they will want us to book the three nights of the long weekend but we just want to spend Fri and Sat nights to avoid the Labour Day Monday traffic home. Any suggestions of area to stay to see some good wineries and specific places to hang our hat? Thanks.

National Geographic Traveler magazine had a whole feature about the finger lakes wineries a few months ago. They included a whole route with stops on the way. The wife and I are going to make that a long weekend next year.

The Dr. Konstanine Frank Vineyard is a good one to visit. They use only pure vinifera grapes and make a terrific Riesling.
