Drive south to Ithaca -- great hikes/walks. Walk around the Cornell campus. Farmer's market Saturdays and Sundays. Wonderful restaurants. If you'd like specifics, let me know.

Near Ithaca, hike Robert Treman state park. Start at the upper gorge area. It's amazing.

Ithaca is a great option! You might also like Skaneateles, just a short drive from Auburn on Rt. 20. You are also in Wine Country if that is of interest to you.

Jinnyvan, specifics would be nice, thank you.
Yes, we are interested in wine.

For wine tasting drive west on Rt. 20 from Auburn to Geneva and follow the signs down Rt. 14 (you'll be going South) to the wineries along Seneca Lake. The wine trail is well marked and its a nice, pretty drive. If you drive around the entire lake there over 25 wineries (!) to visit. Many have small gift shops, picnic grounds and restaurants/cafes.
