Fine Dining in Akron
Will be in Akron on a Sunday night for business. What is your favorite restaurant for entertaining clients?
|
Unfortunately, many places are closed on Sundays.
I'd recommend Piatto Novo in the Sheraton Suites, Cuyahoga Falls, which is not a far drive from downtown. www.piatto-novo.com Just to let you know, Tom Waits is performing at the Akron Civic theater in downtown Sunday the 13th. It's not a large venue, but it definitely will cause a stir. If you want to travel to Hudson (north of Akron) here's a place with a wine list that is sure to impress: www.vue-restaurant.com |
Thank you. How far of a drive is Hudson from Akron?
|
What general area will you be travelling from? From downtown, probably about 20-25 minutes.

The highest rated restaurant in Akron is Ken Stewart's. 330-867-2555 All the professional golfers eat there when they come into town for the golf tournament. I have always had a great meal there--very expensive.
The Diamond Grill is also the old time favorite--absolutely no ambience. Known for their steaks. 330-253-0041 Really liked Piatto's when they were downtown. Haven't eaten there since they moved to the Sheraton Suites. I don't know if the restaurants are open on Sunday. |
Here's another nice place that's open on Sundays:
http://www.hydeparkrestaurants.com/m...kron/index.htm It's located in Fairlawn, which is west of downtown Akron. |
My favorite is Lafever's in Cuyahoga Falls. Ask for a window seat to see the Falls. (small, but Falls) http://tinyurl.com/zrdw3 Great food but again don't know if they are open on Sunday evening.

Thanks for all of your help. It is disappointing to see how many places are not open on Sundays!
|
I just called and Ken Stewarts other restaurant in Bath Ohio (close to Akron) is opened on Sunday's. It is Ken Stewart's Lodge and the phone number is 330-666-8881. http://tinyurl.com/j9jug
If you want to forget the fine dining and go for the best Italian you've ever had in a no ambiance place then you've got to try: Luigi's in downtown Akron. It's an institution and the best ever Italian! http://tinyurl.com/s8v5l |
Thanks for all of your advice! We ended up going to Piatto Novo and everyone loved it. They had a bottle of wine on the menu that we thought you could only get at a tiny cafe in Santa Barbara!
|
Shari, glad you enjoyed it.

I know the OP has already travelled, but for reference in case others find this thread: there is a Fleming's steakhouse in Akron now (4000 Medina Rd., 330-670-5200). It's outstanding, but not cheap (see www.flemingssteakhouse.com).
A previous poster mentioned the Diamond Grille, one of my favorites -- great steaks and seafood. I know a previous poster described it as without ambience, but I find it has a certain charm, and seems like a step back in time in some ways. (one such way: they don't take plastic, at least they still didn't last year, and never have). They have been quite flexible with other forms of payment, however. Well worth a visit. |
