Finally got my courage up and booked through Priceline---good price but I forgot to check the "amenities" icons closely!!!

I really studied Bidding for Travel site, made my choice, got my first bid on airport hotel at Tampa airport..However,
when i checked the icons in going through the different "star" ratings, I did not pay attention that their was not an airport shuttle!!! So now I will sacrifice some of my savings for taxi from airport!!
It was still a good price!!!
I do appreciate all the advice and comments from other posters

Kate, just because there wasn't an icon for airport shuttle service doesn't mean there may not be one. Almost all airport hotels offer shuttle service so just give the hotel a call and ask or check out the hotel's own website for more information. Good luck!

Kate, do you want to share what hotel you got and at what price. I, too, am looking for a place in Tampa and just can't quite do Priceline...yet.

It's rare to have an airport hotel that doesn't have a shuttle. Mesmells a troll.

Come on all you Priceline shills. Take it while you still can. Your days are numbered. Thank God!

Now, is there ANY reason for this post appearing on this site? Obviously, not. There was never a question to begin with. There isn't one now, is there? Who is being thanked for what? Where is the other post with all the "advice and comments"? What are we missing? Either you think we are all stupid, or you just don't give a damn as long as you get your messages across.

Kate, if you haven't already, consider posting your bid results on BFT. At least tell us here which hotel you got. Just because there's no icon saying "airport shuttle" doesn't mean the hotel doesn't have one. Got the Embassy Suites Fort Lauderdale last fall via Priceline - a 3-star but it did have a shuttle. The Marriott in the same zone/quality level did not. It depends on the hotel, not on Priceline. So check with the hotel.

OK, maybe I'm a major "DUH", but I've bid 4-5 times on priceline, (hotels only)got great prices, but don't know what "icons" you're talking about. Have I been missing something?

Kristin, in the description of the star rating, which you must do some clicking to get to, I believe they show which amenities must be present for the rating to be given...in the form of icons.

Although I love Priceline, I'm wondering why Kate never actually gave us any real info?

I sure don't understand what X's problem is. Priceline is a legitimate part of any travel discussion...We've used it many times, always with great success. It would be nice to know what price "Kate" got her hotel for...

I bid $40.00 for a 2 &1/2 star motel near Tampa Airport.so with taxes and fee for Priceline came to $ 50 plus.
I did call the motel--Wellesley Inn & Suites--3.5 miles from airport.and no shuttle..Taxi fare near &10.00
Live and learn. The reason it took courage for me to try Priceline is that I travel alone and worry about locations and often my travel plans change . In this case, my plane does not get in untill 10 PM so I wanted a place near airport and am only staying one night. Plus if my plans changed I am willing to sacrifice the cost. I did book a 4 night stay in Clearwater Beach by phone after I saw a "special "on Best Western site.(they have a 72 hr. cancel policy) They did give me the internet rate after I asked.
Thanks for comments...Kate
