Fiesta de Santa Fe
You guys have been great with my upcoming trip planning, so I have just one more question.
We are arriving in ABQ at about noon on Sat 9/8. Our hotel room in ABQ (there for a convention) will likely not be available until 4 PM. The Santa Fe Festival is that weekend and I'm wondering if it would be worth the drive up there, stay a couple or three hours, and then return and check in in ABQ? I looked at the fiesta's website but basically all it says is entertainment on the plaza. What else goes on? We'll be staying in Santa Fe for two nights at the end of our trip; just curious about this festival. Thanks! |
There's lot to do in and around ABQ. Why drive up to Santa Fe on arrival day if you are going to SF later on in trip?
Go to Old Town, stroll down Central around the Nob Hill area, go to the GREAT ZOO, go to the botanical gardens, take a hike, go up the Tram etc etc. Debi |
We've never been to Fiesta in Santa Fe, but they have a weird parade, the burning of Zozobra, things like that. You might find more information at http://www.santafereporter.com

And now that I've actually read your post more carefully, rather than skimming it, I'll just agree with Deb. :-)

Thanks for your suggestions. I just thought the fiesta might be good enough to warrant a special trip up to Santa Fe before checking into the ABQ hotel. I'll gladly spend the time in ABQ instead!

The Fiesta is great fun and the burning of Zozobra is always exciting. However, that occurs at night and I don't think you want to make that drive back to ABQ. So unless you're staying overnight in SF I would agree with Debi and LeeAnn to stay in ABQ.
