ferry from key west to bahamas

Hello to All,

I will be travelling to key west next week, and from there to the bahamas, i would like to travel by boat/ferry....

Not sure if one still exists, or maybe do i have to go up to f-lauderdale or miami to catch one...trying to save some money...

any information would be appreciated....

Thank you , Mermaid2b

I don't think so. You would have to go back to Miami or fly through MIA or FLL.

Nothing from Key West to the Bahamas...

I don't think it's a matter of "not still existing". There has never been ferry service from Key West to the Bahamas that I know of. It wouldn't make sense. It's more than 100 miles in the wrong direction. This is not a very good combination because you'll have to go back to Miami. Even then, there are limited ferry options. The overnight ferry to Nassau that I'm thinking of (Regal Bahama Cruise) leaves from Fort Lauderdale, another hour north of Miami.

Hi mermaid2b,

Which one of the 700 islands in the Bahamas were you desiring to go to? There's nothing from Key West but I've taken Discovery Cruise Lines, a ferry for the 5-hour journey from Fort Lauderdale to Freeport, Grand Bahama Island and I believe Bahamas Celebration is still running, an overnight cruise from Palm Beach to Freeport. However, these ferries won't be very useful to you if you're trying to get to Nassau, Eleuthera, Hope Town, etc...

Let us know, Daniel

I didn't look at all of the possible places this goes / comes from, but there's Cape Air...
