Ferry Across Long Island Sound
 

Which Ferry Route?: I can take either the ferry from Bridgeport to Port Jefferson, or the one from New London to Orient Point. I am driving from Boston to Washington (and chose to take the ferry). Recommendations?

Bridgeport - Port Jeff, you'll be too far out on the Island with Orient Point.

Thanks for the response. I failed to also mention I need to stop at Riverhead (between Port Jeff and Orient). The basic question is which ferry is better (both appear similarly priced).

the bridgeport/port jeff ferry is considerably larger and therefore is a smoother ride by far. if you need to get to riverhead first, orient is definatley closer.

Go to Pt. Jeff...when you get off the ferry...there is a place to eat to your left as you exit...I had "THE best ever" lobster there. Sorry, can't remember the name.
