Female traveling alone from Santa Fe to Taos

I am visiting Santa Fe in a few weeks on an Artist Retreat but I am planning on staying a couple of additional days. I was thinking of renting a car and driving the low road to Taos, staying the nite and then dirving the High Road back to Santa Fe the next day. I am thinking of taking this trip myself. I'd love any feedback if you as to whether you think its safe to travel myself? I don't plan on doing any hiking by myself, just stopping in at the Pueblo, a few shops and studios, that kind of stuff?
Thanks in advance for your feedback.

I recently took that same trip, with four friends.
I drove the routes you plan on, in one day, and I recommend them.
Not sure why you think it would not be safe.
It's perfectly fine.

I've driven all around the area you'll be any number of times, almost always alone & consider it perfectly safe. As MoBro says, don't know why you'd imagine otherwise. Forget it & go.

I'm not sure why you think it would be unsafe either. I've made the drive a few times. No worries.

I'm going to be meeting my daughter in Santa Fe in a couple of weeks, and part of that time she will be at an artist retreat - wonder if it's the same one? I think it's taking place at the Eldorado Hotel.

Thank you for responding and this is why I posted the question: This is the first time traveling alone so I just thought I would ask. It's funny, I went to google "Trip from Santa Fe to Taos" just to find the distance of driving time and all these things came up about "Is Santa Fe safe" and it actually said that Santa Fe has a higher amount of crime (home break-ins etc) than average so that is the only reason I asked. I'm very much looking forward to the trip, thank you everyone for responding!

SB25: It is! I am so looking forward to it as I am sure she is also! I have been to Santa Fe/Albuquerque/Taos before but I have never traveled alone. It should be interesting for sure.

Enjoy yourselves!
