female traveler attending san diego conference center

Would like to stay somewhere besides directly around the Conf center - been there too many times.
I am not opposed to walking 1-2 miles if in a safe area. Not much into shopping, unless unique and artisan type shops but even then 1-2 hours and I'm done. Would like to be able to run 5 - 10 miles each day in the morning, going to be there 5 days. Would rent a car if need be, prefer not to be in a "commercial or business oriented" hotel, would like a nice pool; prefer more adult oriented property.
Read several messages, pacific terrace seems like a good idea, what about the Pearl or the Bristol?
I'll probably have time during my stay to go to balboa park, gaslamp, and maybe coronado . Not too interested in Zoo or sea world.

Is the beach accessible to the convention center without a car?

Any hotel ideas and running route ideas would be awesome.

I would recommend the Hotel Solamar. It is a Kimpton hotel and I love their style. The Bristol seems a bit old and dated and a longer walk. The Pearl you would definitely need a car for and does not look as nice as the Solamar.

Why not stay in Coronado? Safe, friendly, lots of little solo friendly restaurants. Great town for walking and running.

You don't need to spend huge money at the Hotel del; there are several other hotels and motels in town.

You could take the commuter ferry over to the convention center or drive there in about 5 minutes.

Otherwise, the Solamar would be a nice choice. Kimpton Hotels tend to be very adult-oriented.

Coronado is very quaint and charming and would be nice to experience. It would require more effort though to get to her meetings.... transport from hotel to ferry, take the ferry, ferry to convention center; whereas the solamar is a 5-10 minute walk and yet not right at the convention center like the marriott or hyatt and less "business-y". Another choice that would involve car rental is the Estancia in La Jolla. It is gorgeous and serene in a Santa Fe, New Mexico style. The Estancia and Solamar are my two favorite hotels in terms of style and ambiance in San Diego. I'm sure they both have websites so you can preview the properties and rooms and check rates.

I stayed at the Estancia last June , and while I loved the hotel, I think it would be a terrible choice if you have to be at your meetings during business hours. You'll be in 20 miles of full-on rush hour traffic heading into downtown on I-5, and 20 miles back.
