Fed Ex Plane Crashes & Burns
I think it was in Tennessee, everyone got off the plane safely, BUT !!! What about all those presents on that plane ????
|
I heard that the fire was in the wing or in the landing gear. They'll salvage all the packages they can (I'd guess that basically none were lost), and the senders of any destroyed packages will have to file claims for reimbursement.
But since when does Santa use FedEx to do his job...?! |
Well, that is a relief. I thought they said that the entire plane burned and all I could see was those Christmas presents burning too.
Santa might not use Fed Ex but Scarlett does!!! |
What a perfect excuse this'll make! "Gee, I got you a *great* gift, but unfortunately, it burned up on that FedEx plane..."
|
Well, if they said the whole plane burned, it's certainly possible the packages got torched too. Bummer....!
|
ok i complain a lot- but fedex majorly screwed up with me three times in the past year- they lost a very important work document- and another time my passport and a third time an $800 video camera- i will never use them- i only use usps and ups when i want the [package delivered...
|
Scarlett, sounds like your fears of someone missing their Christmas presents may be founded. Here's an article on it: http://www.newsday.com/news/nationwo...tion-headlines.
Says "The flames were extinguished but the plane was heavily damaged. Several large holes burned in the right side of the fuselage, which was blackened by smoke." Also says it was coming from Oakland. Which gives me a slight relief -- I had a package shipped from Freeport Maine (LL Bean) today. But it will be bad for whoever's package is on the plane. Hotandsweaty, I use FedEx because of bad experiences with UPS and USPS. |
I saw the news pictures - there was a fire onboard. The FAA said "the plane landed and veered off the runway."
It didn't crash. |
Yes, I saw that on tonights news too. I am so glad that the people on board were able to get off without injury. I heard the initial newstory on the radio-Maybe with the fire only in certain parts of the plane, all the Christmas packages were saved :)
|
A side note to Scarlett, rjw, E, hotandsweaty, carrolldf, and K452:
I hope you love the presents I got you for Christmas. I sent them FedEx on Wednesday. I hope you receive them on time. Have a happy holiday. |
Oh Patrick, I'm so looking forward to getting the present. I can hardly wait. I'll let you know when it shows up!
|
I bet that plane was carrying Christmas present fruitcakes! And I wouldn't doubt those fruitcakes formed a dense, inpenetrable firewall which saved the plane from being completely torched, and kept the pilots from harm.
Long live airborne Christmas fruitcake! |
Patrick: You are a wonderful person! I hope it was that Oakland Raiders merchandise I've been wanting oh, so very long....
Actually, I DID send a FedEx out on Monday to my sister's house in PA-- it thankfully got there safely (Hermès cologne for my mom). BTW, everyone have a super holiday-- I'm off to PA for a week! Merry Christmas, Happy Hanaukkah, Cwazy Kwanza!! ;) |
This is from the local Memphis newspaper
FedEx officials Thursday started notifying customers whose packages were on the plane. Most of the cargo was in containers, so officials are assuming the packages are in decent shape. |
Wonderful news! That means Patrick's presents should arrive all safe and sound. I'm really looking forward to it. ;;)
|
Gee I hope the Clapper I got for my MIL wasn't on that plane!
Patrick-You are on the naughty list for telling a fib. Santa is going to condemn you to a certain small town in Ohio for the rest of your life. [-X |
Patrick, thank you! And what a coincidence--I sent your (stunningly generous, blindingly wonderful) present via FedEx Wednesday, too!
Oh, Merry Christmas to all!! |
Oh, please no, buckeyemom, I spent the first 18 years of my life in Farmersville, Ohio. It doesn't get any worse than that!!!
I'm sure there won't be any problem now getting your presents everyone. I'm just hoping they weren't also on that Fed Ex train that derailed in Alabama or on that Fed Ex truck that was hijacked and got burned up. |
Thank you Patrick!!
My gift was just delivered! It has a slight aroma of burning something, but the scorching only lends it more of a homemade look! You never told us that you could knit!! I am sure that we can find some use for it in Florida and everytime I see it ( it is bright, isn't it?) I will think of you. ( I cannot promise what the Yankee will think of you, but we won't worry our heads about that) Thank you very kindly sir, you are indeed a gentleman ((L)) |
Shame on you Scarlett, I thought a good ole Southern girl like you would know the difference between knitting and crocheting!!!
|
Tom Hanks is now trapped in TN
|
Wilson!!!
Ssshhhhhhhh!! No one say the F-Cake word, it jinxed me. So Patrick does this mean I've been left off your list? |
