February 2025 in Warm Springs, Or. What to do?
 

Hi everyone,

I have a good friend that is a traveling nurse practitioner and will be spending about 6 weeks working in Warm Springs, Oregon. I am going to visit her for a few days traveling from Seattle. Looks like Warm Springs is tiny!

Any suggestions for things to do around there? We are both in our 60's, she's in great shape, I'm OK. We both like to hike (more flat than hilly for me), eat, go to hot springs and body work would all be great! Where to stay, yummy food you've had, should I drive or fly...I'm just beginning to explore. I was thinking about spending a 3 day w/e in Bend as I've never been there and I've heard it's a beautiful small town. Thoughts for those that have been there or live there?

The times I've been to Oregon have been limited mainly to the coast or Ashland for the Shakespeare Festival. I know February might be a bit challenging, but how different can it be from the weather in the PNW? It will be a shock for her since she lives in the SW, but she spend part of last winter in Taos and survived, so I think she'll be fine! Again, thanks for any suggestions.

I've not been to Warm Springs -- The closest I've been is Sisters which is about 60 miles away. Sisters is great - Victorian & faux Victorian architecture, art galleries, cafes etc plus lots outdoorsy 'stuff'. This website give LOTS of good suggestions for things to do including walks and hikes - also including in Deschutes National Forest which covers all the land between Sisters and Warm Springs

Warm Springs doesn't get much snow because it is in the rain shadow of the Cascades but the latter will get feet of snow. The 12-mile Deschutes River Trail in Bend should be fine.

Never been to Warm Springs so no advice. There is likely some good hiking or snow shoeing around there.
Agree Sisters is a cute little town.

Bend you might look at the Old St Francis School hotel. Its an old Catholic school made into a hotel. There is a bar, restaurant, movie theatre and a soaking pool. Its just a short walk to downtown Bend. It will be busy with skiers. There is lots to do there- you might even contact one of the tour operators there and go on a snowshoe trip or snowmobiling. One operator is Wanderlust Tours. Or go up to Mt Bachelor and go dog sledding. Am sure your hotel will have into.
