Fear of Flying

I kinda have this fear of flying, but I love to travel.I don't know what it is, but I get all tense once Im up in the air. My friend is an intern @universal and told me that Jonathan Elias' new album American is really relaxing. I think Im going to borrow it for my next trip.

sceneisle Oct 19th, 2004 11:30 AM

I have mastered my fear of flying because I too love to travel so much; but I'm still having trouble getting over my fear of crashing.

When I fly, I have to take a 0.25mg Xanax before the flight.

beeminor has never posted before. His first post references an obsure new album. Perhaps the cynic is me says that beeminor is breaking into the music promotion business.

My thoughts exactly Ryan.

Beeminor could Beemajor pain in the butt.

LOL

Well, if beeminor is promoting the album, then he should learn the name. It is "American River", and yes, it is very relaxing.

Anyways, I too have a fear of flying. I can't even sleep on a plane. Once I was the only passenger awake on a twelve hour flight. Music helps a bit, but watch the in flight movies to make the time go by faster.

I've heard this album. I think Elias would sell more if he re-labeled it "laser cleaner" and put it in the accessories aisle. Currently in use as a beer coaster. Thanks for the tip, bm.

Nobody likes to be out of control of their own safety! We think we are ok in cars, but look at the news! The most dangerous trip is in the CAR to or from the airport! Women with children under teen years, who formerly loved to fly (or tolerated it!) get very nervous flying! It has to do with "separation" (from earth and child) whatever... but remember that you need to choose destinations and airlines carefully, and then just go for it!!!

Fear of Flying for me doesn't even compare to the first months that ones child starts driving a car. Sigh. Lived through that (barely). Now living through grandchildren getting their drivers license and bombing down the freeway. 18 year old grandson, great kid, just called to share "grandma I just got a speeding ticket". I did not say it but I thought "and if you think I am going to be the one to tell your parents "forgetaboutit!".

Actually I am not the least afraid to fly, but sure would be afraid if the plane started to crash! OK, bad joke.

I sort of think of flying like riding a horse. My father told me to relax, the horse didn't want an accident anymore than I did. Sooooo, I assume the pilot doesn't want to crash anymore than we do. I tell myself, over and over and over again.

I was never afraid to fly until my daughter was born...now I get weirded out whenI fly and she doesnt. It doesnt bother me as much when we fly together. My fear of flying also has lessened after dating a pilot. He actually explained to me what keeps planes in the air, how they really work, etc. and it made a HUGE difference.I always tell people to talk to someone who knows a lot about planes...it really does help.

beeminor Oct 20th, 2004 10:50 AM

After reading what sceneisle said I think my fear is misplaced. I think I have a fear of crashing.

beeminor Oct 20th, 2004 11:16 AM

For those who feel the album is a coaster, they should take a closer listen.

I've analyzed over and over again why I have this fear as realistically, I know my chances of being in a car wreck are so much greater, but yet air travel fills me with apprehension. I have concluded it is not my having control....trusting someone and something else.

Check that, beeminor, I'm using it now to set spark plug gap on my Massey-Ferguson.

Topping so gyppielou can see the amateurish marketing efforts for this glorified Muzak collection....

TripleSecDelay Oct 20th, 2004 09:03 PM

Thanks, long beach...
Assuming you must have read the other thread.

What a mistake to come on this site and try and advertise.

What you don't realize beeminor is that everyone will do just the opposite and trash the album.

Since you are a rookie, you don't realize how opinionated we are and what we hate most is someone trying to come on the site and do exactly what you've done.

1tiredmama Oct 21st, 2004 07:24 AM

I hope my comments above don't seem like an endorsement. I have heard the album, and while it is relaxing (it's a snoozefest, actually), it sure isn't my type of music. It is very soundtrackish. Ugh.
