Favourite chocolate
Hi, just wondering what your favourite chocolate is. When we visited NYC we tried the Hershey bar - and didn't like it at all! Ended up buying a dozen to give to daughters many school friends, they loved them but didn't know we hated them on first taste. Anyhow - what chocolate do you like out there? Swiss? Belgian?
|
Hershey's. I love it.

My wife likes Dove and every exotic chocolate known to mankind, but me, I like Hershey's.
|
Any European chocolate - Belgian, French, Italian, Swiss. They are all sold in USA if you look for them.
|
See's candy.
|
Neuhaus ...flown in from Belgium

Expensive but worth it.
|
Godiva Truffles! Can't be beat.
|
Spanish chocolate! Ummmmmmm, chocolate...
|
France's Suchard milk chocolate (and I'm a dark chocolate fan!) And Vahlrona for cooking with!
|
bodega chocolates at the south coast plaza in southern cal. I get em every time i'm in l.a.
|
FYI, Bodega is made in a little shop in Dana Point, CA (Orange County) so if you are ever there, you can stop in and see it made! A friend of mine's housekeeper works there during the holidays to help make the chocolate.
Anyhow, my favorite is Ghirardelli. It is delish!
Bodega lowfat fudge truffle bar is also amazing (although I'm not sure how accurate the lowfat claims are).

By far - Belgian chocolate..

Jacques Torres, the famous pastry chef, opened a chocolate factory (!) just down the street from me in Brooklyn. I am a big fan of chocolate, and his is the best I've ever had! It's expensive, thank God, otherwise I'd probably eat it too often. I've actually never tried it in bar form, just the "filled" chocolates like you get for Valentine's day. The passion fruit hearts and lemon squares are particularly yummy!

Harbor Sweets from Marblehead, Mass.

Although I live in Belgium and get served Belgian chocolates with every cup of coffee, I have a fondness for the milk chocolate nonpareils at the Moravian Cook Shop in Bethlehem, PA. I think they're from Josh Early, but not sure.

Nothing, but nothing beats the Swiss chocolate. It is probably my favorite purchase when we tour Europe.
|
My favorite in the World is the SWISS chocolate...so rich and creamy!
As for American chocolate, my favorite is See's.
|
Lindt swiss chocolates!

Also agree with Eithne about Harbor Sweets. Had them for the first time last Christmas and hope to get gifted again this year!

See's is tops too. The San Francisco Brickle Bar puts Heath Bar to shame!
|
There is a small no ,tiny, store in Englewood NJ that hand dips fresh fruit in dark chocolate.
although I have been known to eat any kind of chocolate available, and I DO love Angelinas in Paris,Sees,Godiva,Neuhaus, there is nothing like a fresh dipped slice of orange peel or a big fat strawberry dipped in chocolate:)~

Oh, yumm, my mouth is watering at all these replies. I agree on the Swiss postings, it really is exceptional. There definitely is NO substitute for chocolate!

We discovered Leonidas chocolates while traveling in Brugges, Belgium. I fell in love with them. My husband surprised me with a huge box for my recent birthday. He got them online (them come refrigerated): http://www.leonidas-chocolate.com/
