Favorite Vegas Restaurants & Shows?
I'll be in Vegas for a business conference for two days Jan 26-27 then DH is joining me for the weekend. Looking for recommendations for dining & shows or other evening activities for a few days.
Staying at Caesar's Palace since that's where the conference is. |
My favourite restaurant in LV is TSUNAMI in the Venetian. Excellent sushi and Asian cuisine. Bobby Flay's restaurant in Caesar's is also stellar. The coffee shop in the casino of Mirage has great breakfasts, sandwiches, and salads. PACKED--you'll be lucky to get a table!

We liked Mama Mia at the Mandalay Bay. Also, we saw Trent Carlini "The Dream King" at the Hilton. He was excellent. Sounded just like Elvis!

Thanks for all the great replys. Since the air & hotel is on the company, we've got a good budget for food & fun. Probably wouldn't spend much over $100 per ticket for a show unless we were really in love with it.
I'll definitely check out Tsunami, as we love sushi. Budman, I was thinking about Second City too. :) Keep the suggestions coming! Trish |
Forgot to mention, we live in NJ near NYC so probably want to do shows we can't see at home (like Broadway type plays).

I have to second Danny Gans and Mamma Mia. I have seen Danny Gans about 4 or 5 times and I never get bored of his show. My DH did NOT want to see Mamma Mia, but by the end of the show he was up dancing/clapping, it is a GREAT show also. I have heard Clint Holmes is good and the Scintas. I like Mystere and O is supposed to be superb (going Jan. 7, so I'll soon know personally about that). Check and see if Celine is playing or Elton John, they are at CP. I have seen Elton John and he is terrific, very eccentric show. As far as restaurants, I would highly suggest going to Rosemarys Restaurant on W. Sahara. I just took my mom there for her 60th b-day and it was FANTASTIC! One of the best restaurants in town!! THe chef at Rosemarys was Lagassee's (sp?) exceutive chef in NO. Most of the hotels have top notch restaurants and you usually can't go wrong with them. Some places off the Strip that I like are the Tillerman (E. Flamingo) a GREAT steak/seafood restaurant been here for years, Ventana's (Italian, Horizon Ridge/Arroyo Grande in Henderson only 20 minutes from Strip area) great food with great views of Strip at night.
Have fun!! |
We really liked Second City too. "V" is a good one as well. Both are great "cheaper" shows considering how outrageously expensive most of the shows are nowadays.
|
Thanks! I've seen MamaMia on Broadway and loved it. I'm a child of the '70s, what can I say.
Elton John doesn't start until Jan 31, so we'll miss him by a couple days! :(( |

Caesar's has some excellent restaurants including Nero's for steaks, chops and 808 for Pacific Rim.
|
Folies Bergere for a historical rendition of Showgirls, etc. Lance Burton for magic. Penn & Teller for comedy/magic. The Amazing Jonathan for comedy, posing as magic. Check out who may be in town as well. I was fortunate enough to get to see Bob Newhart last time I was in town.
|
I like Roy's (Hawaiian fusion) off the strip. Great food and service. My dh had the roast beef and it was MELT IN YOUR MOUTH.
I love the ahi. To me, it's better than 808, and isn't as pricy. |
Two best memories of our last LV trip: Cirque d Soleil "O" and tasting menu dinner paired with wines at Emerils Fish House in MGM.
|
Mon Ami Gabi at Paris is wonderful. Have the flat steak and pom fries which are devine.
I am now a believer,Barry Manilow at the Las Vegas Hilton was the consumate showman. What a great, personal show and lots of fun. Highly recommended. Since you're at Ceasars, be sure to see the seahorses at the seahouse lounge near the lobby. Have fun |
The "O" show is fabulously outstanding. We were up close now we want seats further back. Mystere is also superb. Many of the other shows are very good, but not comparable to O and Mystere. KA is quite a work, but see the other Cirque shows first. Seats are hard to get for the O show on short notice.
