Favorite Vegas Magic Show
Hi, I've searched Las Vegas Magic here on Fodor's, but not too many recent posts. My husband and I are going to LV next week, and I'd like to surprise him with tkts to a magic show. (I myself am not a magic fan, but once in a blue moon I can be selfless). Maybe I'm booking way too late (???), but in any case, I'd love to hear some suggestions from you. Also, someone mentioned a half-price ticket booth someplace on the strip? Thanks!

We just got back & my 17 yr. old son wanted to see the Penn & Teller show. I have seen them on tv, they seemed extrememly good there, but we were both disappointed in the show we saw Thursday night. Too much talking, not visually (sp?) pleasing to watch-rally pretty boring. I was planning on posting not to go to this show, because I think it was really a "rip-off"-we bought the tickets at the last minute at the hotel itself (The Rio) & we paid $69.00-were going to pay $89 for close up, but all really close. Not the price, just the show is the complaint-very sub-standard. I was shocked at how bad for a top-billed Vegas show. Don't know what other shows there are, but this one was NOT EXCITING AT ALL!

My favorite is Mac King who does an afternoon magic show at Harrah's--it is hilariouis. Dirk Arthur does a very good traditional afternoon magic show at the Tropicana.
Discount tickets are usually available for both shows.

Thanks for the tips. Lance Burton's name has come up several times, and I've just recently read Mac King's name also. What does "discount tickets are available" mean? Where do I get those?

We took our 11 & 9 year old kids to see Mac King and all us enjoyed the show. It is an afternoon show and we got a buy one-get one free coupon outside of Harrahs. You can ask someone at Harrahs where the coupons are being given away. He is very funny and even without the coupon the show would have been worth the price.
