Favorite vacation destination?
I just read the posts regarding least favorite destinations. Am in the process of picking next year's vacation place and am looking for ideas.
|
So far, Jackson Hole, Grant Teton N. P. area, have been 4 times.
Each one longer. Love to hike, fish and just BE there. A great place for me. Now we are going to some new places next week, let you know if anything takes its place as #1. |
Yellowstone! Closely followed by Europe and the Mexican Carribbean (just don't stay at one of those awful all-inclusives!)
|
The National Parks - all of them!! Glacier, Yellowstone, Yosemite, Zion, Grand canyon . God really made some spectacular sights to see.
I've also been to Australia and I'm going back there - the country is awesome and the people are really nice... |
Bermuda. We went there for our honeymoon and our 25th anniversary.
|
In the US, it's tough to pick one. For cities, N.Y. or D.C., scenery N. Ca., family fun, Disney, nices beaches, SW Michigan, yes Michigan. (Hey, I sound like a commerical). And I'll always plug my hometown, Chicago, which I'd love even if I didn't live here. In Europe, Paris and Southern France.
|
Scotland, all of America's national parks, DisneyWorld. All different but perfect in their own way.
|
NEW YORK CITY! The city that never sleeps, the center of the cultural & culinary universe, THE GREATEST PLACE ON EARTH!! Don't you deserve the best? Don't settle for anything less. NYC, BABY!!! |
New Zealand, esp. the South Island.
Yellowstone, Glacier, Canadian Rockies from Banff to Jasper. Napa Valley Quebec City Florence & Venice, Italy Bermuda Stockholm London |
my last, followed by my next planned vacation
truth is, virtually any place can be your favorite destination if ya go with a positive mindset >) |
Australia is a new favorite. Old faithfuls are San Diego, Alaska, and the Caribbean.
|
London, San Francisco, Paris, Amsterdam, Toronto, Montreal and all of Spain, in no particular order. (Obviously I like cities)
|
Spain, France, Italy in Europe
N.Y., S.F., and Hawaii in U.S. (Live in Seattle and at this time of year with the weather we've been having, it's my favorite in the U.S.) |
How can anything top NYC! It is THE greatest city in the US. The stimulation is incredible! Paris is also in my top 5 places along with Miami and L.A., but NYC is still the best.
|
Alaska
New York City San Antonio/Austin San Francisco Paris Any of these make a WONDERFUL Vacation! |
U.S.--Hawaii, Rocky Mountain NP, Charleston, NYC, Chicago
Abroad--Great Britain, especially London, Switzerland, Austria |
SYDNEY!!!! South Island New Zealand, esp. Queenstown, Kauai, Grenadine Islands. Can't beat Australia. Forget about the long plane trip (if you are from the US) and go! You won't regret it.
|
That's a hard one....Depends on the mood I'm in.... But did love Bermuda, San Francisco, Maui, Switzerland, Italy, and London....
|
Italy!
Driving the California coast Maui The San Juan Islands between Seattle and Vancouver |
To date:
Lisbon,Portugal Southwest Ireland New Orleans Florence,Italy To come: Innsbruk Vienna Prague Sydney |
Among my favorites:
Cities: Seattle, Portland, Boston, San Franciso, Manhattan Small towns: Sedona, AZ; Ouray, CO; Crested Butte, CO National Parks: Glacier, Grand Canyon, Zion, Olympic Beaches: Cape Cod, Sanibel, Siesta Key, Olympic NP, Oregon coast, Bermuda |
Just wonderful thinking about them:
San Francisco and The Bay Area New York City The Pacific Northwest, including Central OR and the Cascade Range, Vancouver, San Juan Islands, I could go on and on. Grand Canyon Let us know as you narrow it down. Have fun! |
ALL of them!
It seems no matter where I visit I want to move there. :-d |
Yosemite and New Orleans - how's that for 2 totally different places - LOL.
|
As it is so often, my last...the Sonoma/Mendocino CA Coast between Gualala and Little River. If you ever get a chance make reservations for the Greenwood Pier Inn in Elk and ask for either the North or South Castle Rooms.
Private cottage with fireplace and jetspa tub (on the 2nd level with a glass surround) and you are RIGHT on the ocean-not nearby, next to, or close-just an incredible view and place on the planet. |
Seems like there are a lot of plugs for our National Parks as well as Australia. I'm going to do some more research on the Parks suggestions....
|
Winner: Ireland, hands down
First runner-up: Alaska Second runner-up: Las Vegas |
in the US -
maui san francisco new york city in Canada - montreal niagara falls abroad - santorini paris amsterdam southern coast of france |
Hawaii, when we can afford it. Vancouver Island, BC, every summer whether we can afford it or not.
|
Another vote for Nat'l Parks, esp Zion, Bryce, Grand Canyon, north and south rims. Also Indian country driving tour. Start in Phoenix, go through Painted Dessert and the Petrified Forrest, to Canyon de Chelley, a Navajo site w/a nice lodge to stay at and great jeep tours, up to Hopiland, then up to fabulous Monument Valley, back to Phoenix, stopping in Sedona.
Hawaii, but that takes a lot of time and $$. Oh, and how can I forget one of my faves, Death Valley Nat'l Park. Awesome! |
Paris, France is top choice. It's a grand city. This is followed by Charleston, South Carolina. Its downtown area has no skyscrapers and it gives you a feeling of how it felt to live there 150 years ago. Quite unique for an American city plus they have preserved many of the homes from the pre-Civil War period. A snapshot in time preserved. Lastly, Sedona, Az. The red mountains are truly unique.
|
Where we haven't been before. Somewhere new to inspire us. We can relax anywhere and do, but also want to experience something new.
|
Had to revisit this thread to add Rome, my absolute favorite Europian city.
|
Florida
Jamaica (at an awful all inclusive :D ) Rome NYC Most of the east coast Pretty much anywhere but Utah or France or a cruise |
Hong Kong, Cambodia, VietNam, Laos, Spain, Turkey.
|
I'll rate mine as they appear on my personal "first place I'll go BACK to" list, as I still try not to repeat my major trip destinations (except NYC, as it is awesome), because there's just too much out there to see:
Alaska Yellowstone/Tetons Austria Costa Rica Hawaii: Big Island first (love volcanoes), then Kauai, Maui Any other US Nat'l Park Germany, esp. Dresden, Bamberg San Francisco Wash. DC Toronto On my multiple visit list, I'd put NYC, Charleston, western NC mountains, Outer Banks at the top. |
You've really gotta do your own research so as to determine what may make YOUR heart LEAP.
|
Key West, FL
all national parks |
My all time favorite is Hawaii - I just can't get enough of that gorgeous place!
