Favorite things to do in Palm Springs?

Other than golf (duh) what do people like to do there in the winter and spring (January thru May).
Thanks

I enjoyed hiking at nearby Joshua Tree. The zoo was depressing. If you play tennis or swim, those are other things you can do there.

We went one year in January or February. We did a day drive to Joshua Tree, and another great scenic drive looping the San Bernadino National Forest. My husband also visited the Palm Springs Air Museum on Palm Canyon Dr. and I went to the nearby outlets while he did that ;)

Trip to the tram, spa visits, and vintage furniture shopping by day, fine dining by night, all fueled by endless cocktails.

There is tennis too.

Eat, shop, movies. There is a desert museum out there. Haven't been to it but area schools go a lot. Maybe a film festival in Palm Springs? The on that Sonny Bono started many years ago.

The area has good restaurants. Lots of the better chains. Cheesecake Factory if you like that place, Roys (I think only dinner), Yardhouse, PF Changs, all of these near the River shopping center.

At El Paseo there is Tommy Bahamas, CA Pizza Kitchen, Sammys (pizza), Sullivans (steak, upscale), and the Cafe Pacific in the Desert, Fish restaurant.

There is also good Mexican, I don't know of any but they are there. Also, in Indio, there is a new Clint Eastwood restaurant. Can't think of the name of that, oh yea, Hogs Breath.

And just driving around is beautiful. Drive up 94 Palms to Pines Highway and see the views. Drive to Idlewild for the day. Must be something to do up there. It is a beautiful area in the winter.

There's a wonderful and inexpensive restaurant called Thai Smile. It was so good we went there twice.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned gambling. There is a casino right in the middle of downtown!

The Indian Canyons are beautiful! Smoke Tree Stables used to have horseback riding into the Indian Canyons, I don't know if they still do. The Spa in Palm Springs, or the spas in Desert Hot Springs have wonderful natural mineral water pools. 2 Bunch Palms in DHS is my favorite. The Rivers in Rancho Mirage is a great place to have dinner and a movie. You can go cross country skiing in the winter at the top of the tram.

- hiking in the Indian Canyons is great if you don't feel like driving to JTree, but I would add that is an exceptional day trip.

- Vintage airplane or balloon rides is a great way to see the Coachella Valley from above.

- You can also go inner tubing in addition to CC skiing at the top of the tram.

- Palm Springs is a good pub crawl without having to drive.

- There are at least 5 area casinos in different parts of the valley.

- the jeep tours are fun. You can tour some hot springs and check out the San Andreas Fault---one of California's largest earthquake faults---up close.

- I think Smoketree stables is still operating.

The Hog's Breath is in Old Town La Quinta and there are several other good restaurants nearby. Pacifica is the name of the fish place at the Gardens at El Paseo. Idyllwild is a nice day trip, but there is not a whole lot to do up there, especially in the winter and not much after dark in the way of dining and entertainment.

Have fun
