Favorite SC restaurants
I'm back traveling in SC a lot on business and would love to know some favorite places to eat. There are plenty of suggestions for Charleston on this board so would like ideas for other places in SC. All types, including meat & threes and BBQ for solo dining and good places to entertain customers. Thanks in advance for suggestions.

Can you let me know what towns/cities? I can help w/ the upstate if you're headed there. Do you know about Chowhound?

Jestine's is a great place for inexpensive, down-home southern fare in Charleston. The staff there is also a delight!
|
Oops! I didn't read you're post carefully enough...Just ignore me!
|
No, Guy, that is great. Charleston recommendations are great, especially if they are the meat and three and more casual restaurants.
Litespeed, the entire state. |
Well, Jestine's will answer your needs perfectly!
|
Thanks again Guy. I googled to find info on Jestine's and it looks great. The link also introduced me to HollyEats.com, which has great ideas in SC - and elsewhere. The suggestions for GA are good ones, so I'm going to try their SC suggestions too.
Would love to here from Fodorites, too. There was a Las Vegas suggestion that I'm going to share on the other thread. |
OK, here goes.
Greenville: Pita House- casual mediteranean Island Blend - casual jerk Sushi Koji and Tsunami - sushi Pho Noodleville Lemongrass Coffee Underground - coffee, drinks, dessert Chicora Alley - mexicanish 33 Liberty - fine dining Devereaux's - fine dining (bring your expense account) Sprouts - just a workday salad Spartanburg: Wades - GREAT meat and three. Get the yeast rolls and the fried chicken. Beacon - only if you have a strong stomach that can handle a lot of grease...delicious grease, mind you. Landrum - Stone Soup Traveler's Rest - Thaicoon |
In the Florence area we have two very good, fine dining restaurants,
Victor's on S. Irby St. http://www.victorsbistro.com/index.shtml and Carmen's Restaurant, also on S.Irby St. Both are top notch with good menus and wine lists. For more casual dining we like Las Palmas Family Mexican Restaurant. I truly believe it is the best Mexican restaurant in SC. Rt 76, just off the I95 interstate. Judy, the owner, makes unique and innovative dishes. Take the Timmonsville exit, but head toward Florence, not Timmonsville. Kathy |
The ultimate in casual seafood dining has to be "The Wreck of the Richard and Charlene" in Charleston. It took us forever to find the restaurant. Food was ok, prices were moderate, but the atmosphere was great. I have pictures on my webpage (about halfway down): http://152.18.16.27/vacation_2004_Charleston/index.htm Mike Honeycutt |
Thanks so much for the good ideas folks! Talk about a small world. I'm across the country tonight and the other person in the elevator was from Columbia!

Starrsville,
there's so much here on Myrtle Beach, I won't bother with that. But nearby . . . In Conway, River Town Bistro is excellent (would be very nice for client dinners, lunch on your own would be good too). Sidewheeler is also very good. In Georgetown, the Rice Paddy is great (again, good for clients). In Hilton Head, we loved Red Fish. |
Thanks, beach_dweller. I drove past Red Fish a few days ago. I'm glad to know its good and I'll stop next time I'm in HH. Of course, I discovered a Bonefish Grill there too - and may have to indulge even those others have pointed out its part of a chain.
I DID eat at Kenny B's and the Greek restaurant. Enjoyed both for casual solo dining. |
Sardi's Den Restaurant & Lounge
520 Old Greenville Hwy # 2 Clemson, SC This place had some of the best BBQ ribs we've ever eatten! YUMMMMMMM! This is a small hole in the wall kind of place. Utahtea |
