Favorite Restaurants near Santa Monica

We are coming south this weekend, staying at the Georgian and on Saturday evening seeing Chicago and the Doobie Brothers at the Forum in Inglewood.

I'm not very familiar with LA and would love to have some GREAT recommendations from those of you that know the area! Other than the concert, we have the entire weekend unscheduled.

We've been to the Lobster... other than that, we prefer dressy casual with good food and drinks! We live near the ocean so we don't necessarily need to stay at the beach.

TIA

Try Tar and Roses on Santa Monica and 6th. You might need a reservation.

If you like Greek and small plates try Inotheke. 6th and Broadway.

Cassia on 7th and Arizona or Santa Monica. When we went we didn't have reservations so we sat at one their bars. Terrific experience.

All of these are within walking distance of the Georgian.

If you want pizza Stella Bara on Main. You could walk there as well but it's just a bit farther than the other places.

For burgers try M Kitchen right next to Stella Bara.

There are so many restaurants just stay away from the ones on Ocean or 3rd St.

I just went to Billingsley's Saturday. Steak, prime rib, ribs, chicken, fish. I used to go as a kid and haven't been in probably 30 years, but when I walked in, the smells brought back all the wonderful memories. They have Green Goddess Dressing!!! 11326 West Pico Blvd. West Los Angeles

Tar and Roses was fabulous. We also enjoyed Mercado for Mexican food.

Thank you all for these suggestions! I will look at the menus and go from there. Especially helpful is the information that most are in walking distance from the hotel... less driving the better!

I will post a mini trip report when we return!

Try Coast, at Shutters. It's a standby of ours.

We also liked the L.A. Mercado. The one in Santa Monica is probably good, too. Interesting menu, fun atmosphere.

We also liked Mercado, the L.A. location. It's probably just as good at Santa Monica. Interesting twist on Mexican and fun atmosphere.

Thanks to all of you! Now how to choose?! Due to a nasty sinus infection, out time may be cut down to just one night but I will be able to use these ideas in the future as well.

In Santa Monica, we really enjoyed Forma (complete with the Big Cheese Wheel. Reservations a must.
