Favorite Restaurant in the United States?

What is your favorite restaurant in the United States?

One of my favorites I keep going back to is Gramercy Tavern in NYC.

I also love Margeaux Cafe in Raleigh, NC (although it has been several years since I dined there).

I also had the best meal of my life at March in NYC. Exquisite.

One of my favorites is Chez Leon in St Louis in the Central West End. I think one of the reasons I like it so much is I only get to go once or twice a year.

Used to love the Cypress Club in San Francisco, great food with killer decor. Alas it is no more.

Union Square Cafe in NYC (or any restaurant conceived by Danny Meyer)! Also, Maggiano's Little Italy even though it is a chain but ohhh those four cheese raviolis...

Well, if you believe the sign and the slogan only one place can lay claim to "Billions and Billions served." So, certainly that would qualify it as the US' favorite.

Why I'd love to say one place in the US is my favorite, none of them has ever come remotely close to Taillevent in Paris on the 3 occassions I've dined there. Le Cirque, Le Bernardin, Montrachet, Commander's Palace circa 1993, Union Square Cafe, and a few others come close - but not nearly close enough.

Zorbaz on Otter Tail Lake, Minnesota. You can sail your boat right up to the restaurant's dining deck.

Uli's European Restaurant in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. This is one of the few restaurants I can think of that I've eaten at many times and been completely satisfied every single time.

And the homemade appel streudel is out of this world!

Commander's Palace in New Orleans. When my kids are old enough I dream of one day planning a trip around a reservation at their kitchen table!!

"Gyppielou's Backyard BBQ"

There is no single place. And just when you fall in love, often something changes.

At the present

Yes! Grammercy Tavern, Babbo and Union Square Cafe in NYC

And Bittersweet on Martha's Vineyard.

And Charlies in Maui for bfast. Hailimaile for sashimi nepolien.

I think I need to get on a plane to check out Quince after it's recent write up in Gourmet - July! San Francisco.

Wake Up Cafe in Hanalei around 7:00a.m. before a NaPali hike and then Bubba's in Hanalei for a BIG BUBBA with cheese and large chili fries with onions and a HUGE Pepsi AFTER the hike.

Beccad-Martini House ROXX! It's our anniversary restaurant for the past 3yrs...but we try and avoid the "fireplace" tables!
