Favorite Regional Fast Food

Have you ever noticed that certain regions have different fast food? I was amazed when I was in Maine that there was a lobster sandwich at McDonald's. I know in Texas at Jack in the Box they have a Texas cheeseburger with mustard and pickles. So what's your favorite regional fast food?

Here in the south I like Chic-Fil-A.
Great chicken sandwiches. Never heard of it when I lived in Ohio.
For what it's worth, there are Chic-Fil-A's in Wisconsin so maybe they're now in Ohio as well.

In N Out Burgers in California and Las Vegas. Double double animal style - doesn't get any better than that.

I must agree, here in San Diego I love In N Out burgers! Nothing is ever frozen, the fries are cut fresh in the store & the lettuce is 'hand-leafed'. Really awesome shakes too!

I grew up in Cincinnati, and whenever I am in town I have to go to Frisch's for a Big Boy with extra tartar sauce, onion rings & a real cherry Coke. mmmmmmm

In N out gets my vote. Double cheese, fries and a choc. shake. After that you feel like you need to do about 100 situps and run 5 miles, if you can move that is.

Tillamook cheddar cheese sandwiches while in Oregon. That and a brown cow shake at Tillamook Creamery in Portland is the best.

Runza Hut in Nebraska. It truly is the ONLY thing I miss about Nebraska, even the football now sucks!

Sherry Nov 4th, 2002 02:58 PM

Umm... In-n-Out, hands down. Second place to Dunkin Donuts.

Milo's in Alabama. The best hamburgers. Love the sauce. Also, Chipotle in DC for burritos.

Dunkin Donuts isn't regional anymore. The largest Dunkin Donuts is located in Prague in Wenceslaus Square. It takes up 2 floors in a building, and there's an escalator between the floors.

There are also Dunkin Donuts in Budapest.

You may ask why I noticed this? Dunkin Donuts is based out of Massachusetts (where I live), and I get my coffee at the Dunkin Donuts next to my office each weekday.

By the way, Starbucks has yet to invade Prague and Budapest.

Chipotle isn't regional. On the West Coast as well, though I have yet to see the appeal. I suppose there are just too many fabulous hole in the wall places that serve far better Mexican food in Southern California.

In N Out rules!

Chiptole - Yuck!

I'm glad we have a Cincinnati based, Skyline Chili here for my "five way" fix. A plate of spaghetti topped with the oddly seasoned chili, topped with beans, chopped fresh onions, and mounded with shredded cheddar cheese. I go in, order, and within a minute or two can dig in. Cheap too.

Maui Tacos in ...well, Maui. The fish taco became my staple lunch.

The Ohio chili thing on spaghetti noodles is NASTY!

Hi,
This may be a US board but wanted to add a regional burger that McDonald's was selling in Australia. The McOz Burger--wanna know what's on it? It's a cheeseburger w/beetroot (beets) and scrambled egg. Beets are quite popular there, but on a burger?? Not my thing!
And it sells!

Debbie
