Watching paul mccartney play in front of the colosseum in rome with half a million other people,I dont think it will get any better for me than that.

Our guided tour around St John USVI was overbooked so my husband, son and I were asked if we minded riding in back of the park ranger's jeep. Heck No! Matty showed us some family pictures and told us more about life on St John. A few years later I was helping the school librarian who used to live on St John when her husband was a park ranger. She knew Matty and was delighted to get an update on Matty's life. Small World!

Stumbling across a Wine Festival in a little town on the Mosel & enjoying our time there w/the locals, many who spoke little English- but music & wine need little translation.

Great question...I'll add one:
This summer sitting in a log adirondak style chair around 6AM outside the Lodge at Zion staring up at the canyon walls. The sun peaked over my shoulder and just caught the American Flag fully extended in a stiff breeze. It was so clearly inspiring that a murmer went up from the assembled masses (about 10 Sr. Citizens and me!) |
I've experienced many trips and look back on them all very fondly. But right now I'd have to say my favorite moment was on my very first out-of-state vacation which happened to be to San Francisco about 11 years ago. I fell in love with riding the cable cars up and down the huge hills in the city... hanging on the outside of the car specifically.

Sitting on a sailboat with my husband in the Whitsunday Islands, at sunset, with a glass of wine in hand, and seeing the Southern Cross for the first time.

What marvelous memories-we are all so lucky to travel! I'll add a few of mine:
A pair of Golden eagles soaring and dancing in the sky as we drove the Marshall-Tomales road on a sunny cold New Years Day 2000 on our way to dine on oysters in Bodega Bay. Standing on the top of Union Peak at Copper Mt. Colorado (12,000')and being stunned at the endless view of the Rockies (actually I was working up the nerve to ski down!) My first time snorkeling in St. John made me remember the childlike feeling of awe and wonder. Numerous hikes with my hubby in Pt. Reyes. :"> R5 |
I have a few favourite moments whilst travelling.
My first would be when I proposed to my girlfriend in September of this year in the most beautiful of all the worlds cities that I've visited. I did it on the medieval Charles Bridge in Prague. The river was moonlit and the whole setting was fantastic. A minute after she said yes, fireworks started going off at the side of the river. I couldnt have timed it better. Another fantastic moment would be watching the sunset at the Apostles on the Great Ocean Road in Australia, whilst looking out over the southern ocean. Stunning is the only word to describe it. Another Aussie moment would be visiting the Barrier Reef and doing my first ever scuba dive. The reef is just amazing....the colours, the peace of it all and the nature make it a must visit for everyone. I also love visiting Barcelona, something I've done on half a dozen occasions in the past. But on my first visit I just loved going to Park Guell, which was designed by Gaudi, my favourite architect of all time. It is a beautiful place early in the morning, so peaceful and quiet before all the tourists arrive, with stunning views of Barcelona. I'll be back later this year to post more fantastic moments on my travels after my wedding in Prague in April and then our honeymoon trip to California and Nevada. |
