Favorite Manhattan Holiday Restaurants?

Other than the restaurants at Rockefellar Center, any other holiday favorites located in Midtown between 59th & 42nd Streets? Thanks.

My favorite Holiday restaurant is a German restaurant downtown. It is at 281 Third avenue at 22nds St(212)477-4750). You are no longer in NYC when you enter this bar near xmas time. European Decorations crowd the ceiling, waiters carry plates with dressed goose, pheasant and wiener snitzle float by you.

Crowds are the only problem here but it is so worth the trouble if you get a table. I am not sure much in the neighborhood you are looking in will not be for anyone other than tourist and business professionals. Don't get me wrong some very top end restaurants up there just not always a great local feel to them. Rolf's is out of the ordinary so it fits right in in NYC.

Other restaurants up town that people I know like le Cirque, Tavern on the Green.

We often go to a gorgeous cozy little French restaurant on 2nd Avenue and 53rd Street, its called La Mangeorie and is just as sweet as could be. Perfect for Christmas. Very nice food and the set menu is great, in any event, it will not break the bank. Here is their website, I hope you go because you will enjoy it.

We walked by a pretty restaurant in the theater district called Thalia.

The Gotham Bar and Grill is an excellent choice and there is also a placed called Tablea (I think that is how you spell it) that is also pretty new-Indian food. Beautifully decorated...
