Favorite Florida Tourist Attractions

What's your favorite tourist attraction (other than ORLANDO area)in Florida?

I love the Miami area and of course the Keys are great!

Not sure if this qualifies but I really like Sanibel Island.

If you mean the other tourist attractions, I have great memories as a child of Wiki Wachi (as best I remember the name). I will never forget the mermaids that you could see through the glass and the topless(again thru a 9 year olds eye) mermaid statues outside. My parents still have a picture of me posing with that.

Without a doubt, the Everglades. Just so calm and stunning at the same time. Nature everywhere. Relaxing and so enjoyable. But we love nature and hikes and birding and fishing. We rented a houseboat one winter for a week, and it was fantastic. Being in the mangrove bays with no one else but the kingfishers as they dove for fish and made their insistent cries. Dolphins popping up to say hello, and scores of ibises flying overhead. I wish i was a park ranger there....

I've been a gazillion times because I'm a long-time Tampa resident and I still like Busch Gardens alot. It's actually one of the larger zoos in the nation, and has lots of first-class vets on staff. I love the African-themes, the tropical setting, their flowers are gorgeous, they have plenty of get-off-your-feet transportation opportunities. They have a few get-wet rides that are a lot of fun. Few people tend to take advantage of all the entertainment venues in the park but I love those too, especially one that is the size of a Manhattan theatre where they have different interesting productions. I'm not crazy about their dolphin show which seems so out of place in this park (what were they thinking?!?). They also have the water-park Adventure Island which is also a lot of fun.

1. The beach (any beach in FL will do)

2. The old streets and buildings of St. Augustine.

3. The most amazing banyon tree at the Henry Ford/Thomas Edison estate in Ft. Myers. (The estates were nice, too).

4. Anything on Sanibel Island!
