Favorite eatery at Grand Central, or area, NYC?

Will be in NYC and would like some recommendations for the grand central area, if you have any favorite places. We are definitely going to see the new station as it has been a decade since we were in the city!

we also hope to go to BECCO, L'Ecole cooking school, and a delicatessan.. maybe Katz?

thanks in advance!

I actually like the gourmet market at Grand Central! Can't recall the name but I go there every time I am in NYC to stock up on stuff for the hotel room.

Another vote for The Oyster Bar.

I can highly recommend L'impero (45 Tudor City Place (about 3 blocks east of GC bet. 42nd & 43rd) - upscale, classy Italian and Avra Estatorio (141 E. 48th St) excellent Greek, impeccable fish. When you're in GC check out drinks at the Campbell Apartments, one of the most beautiful bars in Manhattan.

mp you and I have to meet. We have the same tastes.

lincasanova, Sarge's deli on 3rd ave & about 39 st is not bad at all. I hear Silverleaf Tavern (near Grand Central) is very good.

Ofcourse you must have cheesecake at Junior's inside Grand Central.

Without a doubt, L'Impero is the best restaurant in the Grand Central area.

Not far from GCS is one of my favorite places for a good meal in a white tablecloth (but not stuffy or pretentious) environemnt, and at very reasonable prices (especially the prix fixe menu) and a nice wine list also well priced - Cibo. It's at 767 2d Av, online at http://cibonyc.com/

Breakfast recommendation near the NY Hilton: Norma's at Le Parker Meridien, which is on West 56th between 6th & 7th, a short stroll from the Hilton.
I can second the recommendation for the Grand Central Markets, as well as for the Oyster Bar. The main dining room has beautiful vaulted ceilings, but the room can be very noisy as a result. You'll have a quieter lunch at their "saloon." Of course, sitting at the bar itself, before the shuckers, is a very traditional way to enjoy lunch there. And I would encourage your choice of Katz's-- a quintessential NYC deli.
